I fail to see how a piece of fiber glass will add stiffness and rigidity. It does help with the aero though

It connects the body to the top of the windshield. It doesn't matter what the material is. (Obviously you can't use paper, but fiberglass is a fine choice.)

maybe the stiffnes from the hardtop was between the ears, but I liked it none the less. There are some pics online now:
