Default Tranny Questions - no not ******* questions

I have a 1994 tranny in the garage that i got with a 1.8 i baught. It is said to have 140k miles on it and "bad syncronizers" not that i believe that much.. so we will just say condition unknown. Here is my question.. Should i put this thing on e-bay and get rid of it, attempt to pull it apart and freashen it up? Or take it to a place and have it rebuilt?

I really want to swap out my old trans thats in my car now when i put the rebuilt 1.8 in.

What do you guys think?

find a buddy to do the work. Trans work is super expensive.

Why do you not believe the syncros could/would be bad after 140k miles?

its not that i dont believe that, its just that i have no reason to go off of what this guy said.. he was just tryin to get rid of some stuff that was layin around.. so i dont really know the condition..

Im just wondering what i should do from here with it

Put it up on ebay. Don't think it would be worth the effort to rebuild it. Sell it cheap with the warning that you don't know the condition.

check your dealer for a rebuilt kit (including syncros), it's a manual tranny and the instruction are in the enthusiast's shop manual it shouldn't be too hard/expensive with a reasonable set of feeler gauges. Now if it were an auto then I'd say sell it or have it done by a pro... but manuals are so simple in comparison.

Being agreeable and being an ******* are not mutually exclusive
