I have driven the automatic GTO, and the 6-speed GTO. The 6-speed was fast and barked the gears like crazy. But 1st was High geared. Much left potiental for gear change. I was disapointed compared to the automatic. Which is rare for me I never want the automatic.

I liked the automatic best. The gearing felt great. I punched it and went sideways all the way through first, and fish tailed in second. And after 75 is when it cam alive. It just kept geting faster. I ran it up to 140 and it still seemed to be getting faster on acceleration. I had alot of RPM'S left too.
For out of the box turn key factory, I was very impressed. And it still gets good MPG.
When my girl gets out of school. That may be my next daily driver.

But anyway...this big intercooled Burnt Orange Neon went 12.0 in the quarter mile. Every shift he made it backfired so loud you woulda thought he threw a 1/2 stick of dynamite out of the car. I think it had some Nitrous on it. But DAMN! 12 seconds flat at 117MPH!
dude, SRT4s have run in the 10s on the stock turbo...

and the backblast is typical of all SRT4s, but those with free-flowing exhausts and especially the catless ones will be very loud on decel/shift.

The backfiring was probably from a "no lift to shift" feature on his tuning. The ones without cats will shoot out fire because they are getting a lot of fuel dumped in them to help keep the turbo spooled between shifts.

I bet he was in 6th too. If he had downshifted it would have been over or it was as stock as stock could be. I have a friend from a 6.0 GTO putting down over 400 to the wheels and from 40-90 he pulled me by about 1.5 cars...and im making more power than you.

I've never dyno'ed my car but if your only putting down 250 in that NB in your sig than my car is in fact quicker than yours... Nice try though.

With that being said my vote was that it was auto and he had his A/C running...

400 to the wheels? is that a typo? is that supposed to be impressive? the thing weighs more than MikeRiv's last girlfriend. tell your friend to bring it.

400whp is a bit more than they put down stock. A 5.7l will probably put down 300rwhp and a 6.0l will put down 330-340whp. They weigh in at 3800+lbs without a driver or anything else in them. 250whp in a NA is actually probably enough power to pull a stock one on the highway. I know I saw on one of the forums here someone else with a very similar setup was trapping 108-109+mph. The GTO MIGHT trap 108 if it is a LS2 car.
