turbo track crew...
Boost with a good tune isn't as stressful as sustained high rpms. If you are worried, keep it under 12 psi and don't bounce it off the rev limiter. We are blessed with engines that love boost so use it and enjoy it.
one unexpected problem I've had at HPDE days is overheated powersteering fluid. This year I will probaly run a depowered rack and see how I like it. Haven't heard of any tranny fluid problems, i cange it each year.

Transmission cooler? Don't be such a ******* ***** "Mr $1600 Miata". Many people track Turbo Miatas, if you can't take and abuse it during a track day you might as well polish it in your garage with a diaper and throw on some Daytona wire wheels.
I drive angry, and I like it!

Back to the original question: yeah, I know from first hand experiance that it's tough. Last year I ended up burning the exhaust valve in cyl #4. A combination of a motor with 200k+ miles, boost, no intercooler (greddy kit) and pump gas.... It was at VIR. long drive home running on 3 cylinders...
Don't take a car to the track that you can't walk away from if you break it.
