Default Turboz!!!!!!!!!!!!! Boost Cherry Popped!

Just got my TD04H back with its fresh rebuild and 19T compressor wheel upgrade.

Got it into the car and experienced boost for the first time...I'm on the MSPnP maps so its rough as hell.

First problem I experienced was the the car wouldn't hit 3lbs and jerk like a ****...

I had the passenger check some setting and change the overboost setting from 1.5 psi to 12.

Car happily makes 7lbs at extremely rich Air Fuels. I still need to install the 550s tomorrow because it spiked at one point to 12psi and the duty cycle saw 150%...x.X

I can't use the logging feature yet because the Air Fuels are still off a good amount in MT than what AEM is telling me. *FAIL*

Overall, boost is the sickness

Congrats. I just got my first taste of boost a couple days ago, and it is indeed sick.

did you run the tdo4 without the 19t wheel, I was considering this upgrade, how much did it set you back, who did it? hows the spool?

Congrats man. Yes the first days of turbo miata land are amazing. Seriously though, wait until its tuned. My drive to and from the dyno with my Greddy setup was like being in a completely different car on the way back.

+1 on who you had do the work and what did it cost. I almost went this route about a year ago. I got a quote from that jpopshop with some additional work for something like $750 I think.

Vash-

I had GPop shop rebuild the turbo.

It had some turbine housing damage. High performance rebuild, and the 19T upgrade set me back around 680. x.X

I wish I could have before/afters. I've ridden in a few greddy cars, but never driven one so I can't tell you how it feels.

No wonder I never did it for $680 I could have a nice ball bearing turbo setup

Just the upgrade is ~300 iirc?

I already have everything else...and I didn't have **** in the other parts so I'm still out cheaper than with a brand new greddy kit...

Is it me, or a lot of miataturbo member just now getting their boost fixes? lol
Good to hear all of you are enjoying the new toys!! I remember when i first boosted my 96 eventhough it was a JRSC...I atleast did everything at once with the crank overlay, 62mm s/c pulley, FMIC, 450cc injectors ,SAFC, cold air box and tuning. 12psi was nice right off the bat. I wish I had gotten a nice header and mid-pipe, which would have probably freed up another 15-20rwhp. But hey, I spent under $1000 for all of the parts, install and tuning

A typical upgraded greddy setup can make 250whp.

Boostessez is waaayyy addicting. It's tough not to tell everyone I see driving a Miata that they need to do it too! Grassroots motorsports likes to say, the Miata is about as pure a sports car as you can get. I say all it lacks is MORE POWER!
