Uber-long clutch line - where to buy?

I planned on running a single braided ptfe line from the clutch master to slave ... I was so confident I was going to do this that I ditched my OEM hardline.

Now that Bill @ miataroadster has his site temp down, ordering his line appears to not be an option.

This leads to the question - anyone else sell a long line? Or am I going to have to hit a Parker/brake shop and have one made?

This would leads to a second question - Assuming I have one made, can someone provide the fitting specs?

949's only eliminates the section post-firewall.

Miataroadster isn't taking orders right now (as stated in my post).

bmxfuel007 08-27-2013 09:24 PM

Braided Stainless Steel Lines

why not make a single uber long hard line?

just add lots of flexy service loop coils. can prob get it at auto parts store "in the back" where they likely have many hanging.

Boom: 5X Racing Extended Length Clutch Line for Mazda Miata

Late night googling success - thanks for nuttin' MT.netters!

Which is exactly what I posted. Good thing you read what we wrote moron

FRT_Fun 08-28-2013 08:08 AM

That won't reach the master cylinder.

That is basically the same as the TSE one.

This thread sucks. 0/10

Moron of the day - it is just like the 949 (which is not what I'm looking for).

Okay ... plan B time.

Does anyone know the fitting for the slave/master? It appears to be the same pitch inverted flare. At this point I'd like to just get some JIC adapter fittings and run a -3an line between the two.

thasac 08-28-2013 09:37 AM

Me thinks this(10x1mm inverted flare to -3) + this(-3 line) will do the trick.

Get your butt to a hose shop and get a hose made for M10x1 brake line?

Why go the AN route? You can always use your nail polish to color the fittings.

But since you're in no hurry (apparently), you can always wait until MR can take orders.

The links I posted are for reference, I plan on sourcing it from the local Parker/Omni vendor. Also, I'm pretty sure the the image you posted (which I believe is the MR line) illustrates exactly what I described: a -3 line with adapter fittings ... otherwise there would only be a single hex on each end.

The 'best' option, IMO, would be a single line with 10mm inverted flare ends crimped directly to the line/hose ... doubtful I can find that local.

Regardless, this thread sucks and I apologize to all involved.

why not just get another upper oem hardline for pennies from someone and run the curly Q delete from whatever vendor you like? or you just trying to be unique and have your own custom clutch line all the way to the slave?

EDIT: I called you a moron because you posted a link that I had just posted, which was a result of me not reading your post, but then you didn't read my post so there

Or at all. Nobody makes a 10x1.0mm inverted flare swivel fitting, and you would need at least one (preferably two) to actually get that line installed. We looked long and hard for that fitting when we designed our clutch line, and it definitely isn't out there AFAIK.

Two adapters and a long -3AN line is what you want. Or get the OEM hardline out of a yard and buy our clutch line.

i just had them compression fit a few ends off normal brake line into a ptfe line works great. I have had 4 lines made this way 20 on brake systems and none have failed yet.

Just order two of TSE's special fittings and a long -3 line. They appear to be the same on both ends. Might wanna double check that before going this route.

Also, this method has 4 leak points, 2 on either adapter. Which happens to be the same as an OEM hardline and TSE's clutch line. Food for thought.
