E/D mod? Does it have enough of the stock miata floor pan grafted to it to qualify?

Why not add a GRP Miata shell on top of it just for the looks :)
One-piece front, a wide-body rear, fastback HT and you're almost there. A light Miata or a heavy and ugly Seven/Atom replica? |
I still don't see how it was possible to design such a lack-luster, unflattering, negative sex-appeal chassis like that.
I'd still drive it, but man, it was like the goal was to design the world's ugliest kit car first, then figure out everything else later. |

^ I think the opposite. I get a little tingle every time I start thinking about having an exocet.

Myself and the old man are thinking of building a GBS Zero. Basically a Locost/Caterham alike, will take more to build it, but it'll look far nicer and weigh less. Win win. |
I'm glad I'm not the only person who retches every time I see an Exocet.

now if the Catfish was as cheap as the Flyingfish...

I'd sell the Miata and buy a C5 Z06. That would make more sense (at least to me). |
How hard is it to get these things street legal?

GRM Exclusive Reveal: Exocet Spec-A: Grassroots Motorsports forum: Grassroots Motorsports Magazine I was dead set on building one until I realized I'd essentially be in to one for around $10k (on top of the cost of what I've done to the Miata) and essentially end up with something only good for HPDE and the cool factor. |
I barely drive the miata anymore as is. It could be cool to have a real project and then a really fun weekend car. I wouldn't complain as much about the motor after shaving 800lbs off the damn thing. Would probably step it down to a t25 finally.
|
Warren is also talking about trying to get together a Spec Series for these, much like the one in the UK. Even a stock 1.6 should be on par with an MX-5 cup car.

N/A is NOT best.

Yep EM/DM territory.
Also new frames are cheating. Get back to me when you're under 1500lbs with the original unibody. |
