On the coolant reroute: The t/stat cap in the back is modified to keep the heater core the same and throw a large hose along the intake manifold forward to the radiator.

The thermostat mounted up front in that line sees temperature rise pretty well because of an extra hole drilled in the t/stat to let hot water forward before it opens. No heat problems for two summers and 35K miles.

The original t/stat neck is blocked off.
