I've found that having an oil TEMP gauge has saved my turbo. It helps me monitor turbo oil temp. I mounted the temp sensor in the return line.

You should already have an oil pressure gauge (even if it is an "idiot" gauge) to tell you if you loose oil pressure. And you will also have an oil warning light...

....That is, UNLESS you COVERED it up with a DIGITAL READ OUT!!!

I'm a fan of "using what you got" before adding more shit to your car...In this case, gauges. Read up about how to mod your stock gauge cluser to get your guages to work more accurately, and add on a gauge you don't have...

Of coarse, you could be like every other ricer and add a 6" TACH with shift light....:giggle:

Just my :2cents:

CHEERS!!!

I can tell you that that is not true... When I first got the car it had a monumental oil leak... Being the noob I was I did not pay attention to it nor did I fix it.

I ran it down to where the dipstick had about 1 or 2mm of oil on it. Never, at any point, did my gauge dip or a warning light come on.

Luckily I have learned since then.

That's because you were only 1 to 1.5 qts low on oil....Let's remember, we're monitoring OIL PRESSURE, not OIL LEVEL.

Oil pressure will not change with that amount, because OIL is still being PUMPED through the pump. Oil pressure will drop when the pump SUCKS air (like during a corner or fast braking when your OIL LEVEL is low)

If the pump sucks air, then the "idiot gauge" will show it, and the "oil light" will flash...

So I guess the lesson is, check your oil...And if you have any oil leaks, save your $$$, fix the leaks, and if you don't have enough cash to buy a COOL gauge after that...put in a clock ;)

Someone should use one of those as a boost gauge. With one of those fake turbo noise makers in the exhaust.
