Default What to look for when buying a miata?

Hi all, so i will soon be starting my search to buy a miata. It will pobably be a 94-97 year, unless i can find an NB for cheap. I know the basics, like low miles, no shavings in the oil, etc. But i would like to know what specific other areas i should check out to make sure the car is in good shape. I am hopefully going to make many modifications to it, suspension, MS, turbo, in that order. I'm guessing a compression check ia a must. any tips would be appreciated.

Miata's are horrible cars. Especially turbo'd ones. Save yourself and get a Pontiac Fiero.

Do you HONESTLY think it's wrong to make love to children?
Being close to the ones you love is one of the greatest feelings in the world. A healthy sexual relationship between two consenting people is one of the greatest ways to become very close. Two bodies, together, intimately, is such a great feeling. Two souls becoming one. That is true love. There should be no age limit to love. A father and a mother's souls should become one with their children's. That's love. That's protection. That's right.

Hustler is channeling Michael Jackson
Let him die Hustler! LET HIM DIE!

But seriously, seems like there is a good buyer checklist on miata.net in the garage section IIRC. Plus you can read through the stuff in the garage section so you know about the typical issues to look for.

PS - Don't mind Hustler, he was dropped on his head - every day for the past five years.

PPS - Real advice: seek out your local Miata club. http://www.miata.net/clubs/ca.html

Look for meth in the ashtray. If there is some there, you got a deal!!!

Seriously though, just look for the usual. The Miata isn't a magic car, it has the same parts.

I recommend checking for butt plugs in the crack between the seat and the center console. They always slide down there. If you find one, you know it's a genuine miata, not a fake.

I'm closing this monstrosity.
