Surely could be the fuel pump with it coming from that area.

FWIW, my aftermarket AFPR makes a VERY similar sound every time I key On before starting. No ill has come of it. I'm thinking it is air running through the FPR in my case. Air running through your fuel pump would probably be a very bad deal.

Just because i've never heard anything like this before... how would air get in my fuel pump?

Its not the Hydra. When voltage increases, the fuel pump will make about the same noise, just louder and a little higher pitched, but nothing like this one.

It's corresponding to a voltage drop, not an spike, though.

Any other ideas if it's not fuel pump? There's no other moving parts back there, right?

It probably is the fuel pump, its just not the Hydra that is at fault here. The Walbro in my car started making funny noises when I filled up the tank in the usual gas station the other and stopped making them a few days later with no apparent harm done.

The noise is corresponding to a voltage drop, and has been going on for about 2 weeks. Only happens when the A/C is on, with the increased load.

Maybe i'm missing something big here, but i don't see how it could just be the fuel pump. Unless maybe the pump is failing and happening to create voltage drops at the same time it makes noise, only when the A/C is on?

How full is your gas tank? If you fill it up all the way does the noise still happen?
