What size wheels/tires look good with stock ride height?

I am going purely for looks, for like sunday cruise or something. I already have a R compound set for the race track and will soon have a set of stock daisys for drag racing with drag radials. I will likely need to keep my stock height or move into a different house with a different driveway. Also, to keep my wife at bay. I put a set of crappy ($75 on ebay for civic) 16's with 40 series tires and they look terrible, as I suspected. (I needed to try out my rechargeable impact from xmas.) Will 16s with 45 series look much better? I know, 15s are best overall, but I am simply going for very limited use looks only. And my friends often have assorted wheels available, one of them buys new wheels at least once a year.

none

no wheels will look good on stock ride height

Savington 03-01-2008 07:15 PM

Konig Heliums don't look too bad at stock height.

rotaryjunky 03-01-2008 10:15 PM

To rephrase, which size wheel and tire will look least shitty?

paul 03-01-2008 10:18 PM

What a stupid fucking question/thread.

Thanks.

When can we get an old person section? Those of use who hesitate to slam our cars because our wife drives them and we don't want to look like some punk kid.

bryantaylor 03-01-2008 10:56 PM

just lower it an inch or so and get some 15s

That's where I am headed. Those sixteens looked shitty even when I filled my interior with cinder blocks. I have springs but I am kinda waiting until I can afford a nice suspension. Thanks for actual advice.

15's with 225-50-15's look damn good on my 99. Fills up the fenders and gives it another inch of lift, which I like. (I've thought about putting coils spacers to lift my car) I had to slightly roll the fenders in the back though, but I like them.

I liked my yokos on my rx7, how are your 60 foots with the 225s?

patsmx5 03-01-2008 11:12 PM

I haven't tracked the car yet with my Yokokaha 225's yet. Car is getting a welded diff soon. Hoping for 2.0 or better 60' times.

Not a bad idea, then we can set up another forum to make fun of the posts.:giggle:

No, wait, we already have the old person section here:

patsmx5 if your looking to raise your car higher than stock already with oversized tires you need to sell your miata and buy a 4x4.

Jefe 03-02-2008 01:58 PM

Tein S springs, ~$150 off evilbay, Just a tad lower, but not slammed.

I have 16" w/ 45's it's not so bad. Maybe a 205/55/16?

rotaryjunky 03-02-2008 03:06 PM

I have a set of unused older RB springs but I bought the race wheels/tires instead of a nice set of shocks. Probably 205/50/16 would fit nice, and look even better with the 1" /1.5" drop next season.

Thanks for all of the suggestions.

got rice? 03-02-2008 03:15 PM

205 50 15 with stock ride height, 215 45 16 with a 1 or 1.5" drop.

Trent 03-02-2008 03:25 PM

I am running Tein S's on my car, and while they do lower the car a good bit, they are entirely too soft for a sports car. I will probably end up some FM springs before all is said and done.
