Default What are you using for hardtop latches if stock won't work?

I just picked up a hardtop today, and the stock latches won't work with my rollbar. I was going to pick up some rennenmetal spec latches because they are cheap, and I don't think it will be that big of a hassle to undo four bolts.

Any cheap quick release solutions out there?

I'm running without side latches right now...was hoping to find a cheap set of spec side brackets at some point.

After two years I finally picked a set of these up for 25 shipped.

I to use the Rennen ones but i leave the brackets bolted to the car (mine were 65 shipped to the great white north). I have a NA with a HDHCDD and i can only get one bolt into the top. But it makes it easier to take the top off only having to remove one bolt per side. If you want real latches get the beatrush.

The Beatrush sidelatches so I can remove the top easily when needed. I know, they are pricy but they work well.

I bought the Rennen spec latch. 40 shipped. I only paid $500 for the top, I can't see spending $180 on latches. They look nice though.

I really like the looks of the Beatrush but the wings on my fixed mounted seats occupy the space the Beatrush latch needs to operate.

I currently have a set of side latches from Hard Dog that works Ok on my car but they quit selling them because on many cars they interfered too much with the roll bar to work. They kind of interfere with the roll bar and there is a lot of inconsistency in the exact fit of roll bars from car to car so on some they just wouldn’t work.

I’d like to find a latch like the Beatrush one and engineer it so the latch part was on the top side so it would clear my seat but I haven’t got around to working out the details of it yet.

I dug up this thread after a quick search.

I saw a pic once that showed a DIY hardtop side mount. It looked like an L bracket from the HT with a hole in it. There was a bolt vertically through it and it was threading into the side of a horizontal cylinder that fit into the stock latch catches.

Does anybody remember this pic?

I have fixed seats on sliders and a HDHCSD bar. The stock latches work fine for now--- I slide the seats forward and I can get the latches out.
I want to fix the seats to the floor- and I'd like to avoid the expensive beatrush latches.

I'd just like to take another look at that pic before I start fab-ing something up. It might save a few iterations.

thanks-
