whats it worth?

2000 purple nb, 125k miles. Hardtop, 6 speed. "Replaced coil pack, crank sensor, driveshaft?" It's fairly clean, much cleaner than mine.
Doesn't come with bbs wheels Cons: Hail damage Salvage title |
5200.
|
The 2000 SE is probably my favorite miata color ever. The salvage title (from the hail?) kills the value though. Assuming the rest is in good shape and it comes with the hard top, I would say $4,500 is reasonable. Same exact car with a clean title would be $6,500 with the HT. JMHO.
|
That is my favorite Miata color. Isn't is "black cherry mica"?

I didn't know the color so I said purple lol
It just bothers me since it's salvaged but idc because racecar! |
I agree with the $4500. I was going to say lower because of the salvage title and highish miles, but it does have a hard top and it doesn't look so bad. The salvage title was from the hail, right? It would be like getting one with no hardtop for $3500 which is a decent deal for a 2000 Special Edition even with a salvage title.

Doesn't come with bbs wheels Cons: Hail damage Salvage title Where all is the hail damage? Is the hardtop screwed or just the hood and trunk? Bonus that it doesn't come with homo stanced +0 wheels. What sort of suspension is under it? If it's decent suspension but needs hood and trunklid, and some PDR on fenders... I think $4500 with hardtop is decent. DECENT. |
Judging by the wheels and ride height, it's not a decent suspension.
|
Offer $3K due to salvage title.

I'd pay $4500 for it.

I don't think it's low enough to have completely fucked the underbody.
I'm sure it handles like a drunk dog trying to chase his own testicles, but i doubt the underside is fucked. |

I didn't know we could say testicle in a Miata forum. |
It has quite a bit of hail damage on the hood and trunk, the top is fine.
Our current agreement is $3000 but i'm going lower. The previous owner, whose car I currently own, offered it to me for $2500 but I didn't have the cash at the time. He traded straight across for another NA which I also like. I'm trying to spend around $2700 for the car with a salvaged title. It will be my DD and my current NA will be the pig or ill just part it out. I love the color and when it's cleaned up it shines! Damn salvage and hail are my only problems with the car. I'll have more pics soon but want to buy it within the next 2 weeks |
I'll sell the hardtop and buy myself a fastback. Sell the motor and put in my all forged 99 being built as we speak, then I may have $1500 in the car.
What rear end comes in this car? It has the 6 speed already and a miataroadster short shift. But it has race lands coilovers, bleh! That definitely will be changed out. |
Can hail really do enough damage to make a car a total write-off? We don't get hail like that here, but if you say it happens...
|
My understanding is that a paintless dent removal pro can make just about any hail damaged car look brand spanking new again for a very reasonable price. I've seen evidence of this multiple times in pics and IRL.
|
2700 for that car is a freaking steal. Buy. Now.
If it was a factory 6-speed, I believe it should be a 3.9 torsen. |
I can either buy this, or spend the money to upgrade my car. 6 speed, fastback, fender flares, 949 damper, etc.. I may pickup a 6 speed today

Pics don't do justice. Sharp looking when looking at a distance but there is quite a bit of damage. Top is fine just the hood and trunk.
Should I wait a few weeks and grab it? https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1360453956 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1360453956 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1360453956 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1360453956 |
I think that would work out well for you for the money you mentioned.
LOL at what some people do to their suspensions. |
I mean my car is low, but not that low.
Debating on pulling all my turbo stuff and selling my car cheap to fund more goodies for this car, what do you guys think? |
Which suggests that the salvage title might be due to something else.
|
I think it's the front end that caused it to be a salvaged.
|
Hail can total a car very quickly. If the PDR can't get everything perfect, then the insurance needs to account for replacing the hood, trunk and fenders as well as some fill on the quarters plus a full paint job on the entire car to blend everything. That will total a 10+ year old miata pretty quick.
The only reason to stay away from a salvage car is because of resale value. If you are going to just turn it into a track rat and the salvage wasn't because of a significant impact where the frame was pulled too much, go for it. But... I will stick by my previous comment about an SE paint job on a track car. If we trade a little paint, I'm whacking my red '90 with a hammer and reaching for the rattle can of red. You are trying to find a shop to mix a batch of mica paint for less than a set of tires. If the crunch is more significant, there are 3 red NAs on my local Craigslist being parted out right now. I've never seen a 2000 SE with useful body panels be parted out locally. |
It won't be a track car. It will be my daily just turbod after I pull mine off and sell the car.
|
Ah - sorry for the ASSumption. :loser:
If you don't care about resale value and having the annoying questions and lowball offers when you do go to sell, go for it. |
Haha well in your defense I said because racecar.
It's much cleaner than my car and I knew the previous owner and knew it was taken care of. My built 99 engine would be the only thing it's missing! Think I'm going to start pulling some turbo parts and sell my Na. Sad day |
Why don't you swap motors - put your built one in the '00 and that one in the NA to sell?
|
The Na already has a 1.8 and torsen from a 96. My built 99 is in the shop still waiting to go together. So basically I'll just pull my turbo stuff off the Na and sell it. Then my built motor will go into the 00
|
This definitely seems like the right way to go to me. Do you prefer the NB? If so, and you can confirm that this car is not jacked up or has never been really jacked up, then by all means, go for it.
|
I am starting to like the NB better than the NA's now.
I am in the process of disassembling my car to get all my turbo goodies off, questions is, how much is my NA worth? 1993 with 1.8 engine and torsen w/ 4.10 gears. 1.8 built with forged rods, roughly 5k miles on the engine Lightweight flywheel, ACT clutch BC Racing coilovers, stock daisies with brand new rubber Interior is basically stock, MazdaSpeed Miata seats, hardtop, pretty plain car |
I suspect you might get more if you part it. The Torsen is worth good money and so is the new, built engine. Just something to think about.
I'm guessing you no longer have the original drivetrain? |
It had this drivetrain when I bought it. I figured I could get more if I parted but don't want to hassle with that right now.
|
At least sell the HT separately.
|
I am making my part out list right now. So much crap to list lol I will be playing the waiting game, then taking the shell to the crusher most likely
|
If the chassis is sound, you can sell the tub to a spec guy for $100. No Miata needs to die in the propagation of this project.
|
Few questions on prices for my current car
How much for my engine with all accessories? 96 1.8L Motor has forged rods, new oil pump, water pump, gates blue T-belt, new valve seals w/ valve job, everything was worked over pretty good. Maybe 5k miles, just did a compression test and pumping 170+psi in all 4 cylinders NA 5 speed transmission. checked and rebuilt what was needed, 5th gear syncro, other odd end bearings and clips. no grinds and shifts smooth. Those are my 2 main questions, everything else I can come up with prices I just need to know drivetrain wise |
I like the 2000SE with the NB2 bumper and headlights. Definitely go that route.
|
Car sold for a ridiculous price, far more than what I would have paid.
I am parting my car and waiting for a good deal on a NB! |
Bummer man!
|
Bummer indeed. Good luck.
|
good luck

Yeah, might have to lend Justin my car a couple of times a week so he can get a fix. Sad to be down to an old truck. But, at least his truck can bring me my (new to me) Torsen!

Sad news is the car is gone to its new owner. I am sad to see it go... lets be honest, no im not. I still have a lot of parts left for it, maybe I can get that guy to buy them for a good deal? We'll see. I had fun with this car but it's time for a nicer car that I can take pride in. So I am on the hunt this weekend for my next daily. Here are the remains of what use to be my car. I got a pretty good deal on the car so I let it and all the suspension stuff go for a decent price, and whatever else I could throw in to get out of my hair. I solute you lil miata, we had some good times :makeout: https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1361238001 |
Makes me sad.
I see that your custom roll bar/door bars went with it. Were they welded in? |
Yes, to much of a hassle to take out!
Rick, are you available tomorrow after work? If so, give me a time frame and I will run that torsen by your house! I will be out in that area anyways, knock out 2 birds with 1 stone! |
Should be. Working from home tomorrow.
|
Perfect, I will load it up tomorrow morning!
|
|
Oooohhhh! Clean, low-mileage 10AE. Nice.
I don't know anything about NB values, I'm just checking out what you're doing. Add says "Vehicle comes with a 1.8L four cylinder engine with 140 horsepower." :giggle: I'll bet you have other plans. |
This has sold, unfortunately! It sparked my interest so I called and they said it has gone :vash:
Just looking for a good base price I should expect to pay, I am hoping between $6,300 and $7000 for a nice SE/10AE so I can get a torsen and 6 speed. I'd love to find a white NB, that way I can be cool like Vlad and Bryan! :makeout: |
Aww man I missed the "cool" list! Must be cuz I took the lame way out and bought my car already built :-P
