I found some polishing skills
Well this was my first attempt at doing something like this. I have 2 other uper and lower intakes to do. I'll probably sell them and this one is goin on my B-inlaws mustang. I will do a better job on the other 2,now that I know how to improve on what I did.
When i go on vacation next month I am goin to do my valve cover. So tell me what you guys think.

Thanks for the compliments.
It does require alot of patience, but I enjoy the before and after aspects of this kind of thing. Its pretty rewarding for me. Right now I have about 9.5 hrs in it. The next one won't take as long I suspect.
The majority of it is done with diagrinders and about 40% is hand sanding. After I get all the casting off I start with 400 to 2000 grit. All wet sanding. I used water on this one,but when I do the others I'm goin to use WD-40 as a cutting agent then clean the oil residue with windex. It will prolly promote a much deeper shine.
I used mothers polish about 4 coats. 2 by air and 2 by hand. The last step is Maqiures wax. Right now I'm searching for an aluminum catalyst spray that will allow a high temp clear to be applied and stick.
If i have no luck finding something that will have longevity,I'll just let them go with the wax on it . It will the customer/owners responsibility to keep it shiny.
I'm just doin this to get some money for parts for my 94 miata. I've got big plans for it but no loot.lol.
Here's the sanding run down that i did.
start right/straight diagrinder.
1.180 grit sanding disc. 2. sort of a gold color scotchbright disc.3. red disc.4. green disc. All dry not cutting agent.
then start hand sanding with 400,600,800,1000,1200,1500 and finally 2000grit. I had to use a dremel to get the tight spots. That took alot of time;doin all the little tight bullshit. Hope this helps.
Jay.
