Default Who's done front end collision repair? (NB)

While I had the nose off my car I pondered doing some of this myself since I bashed a civic when my car was still virginal. There's a cross beam that goes between the frame rails that's spot welded on and two bumper mounts that are bolted on. The latter are cake, but I'm curious if it's a big PITA to do the cross beam.

It's gonna require some welding and probably not spot welding since I don't have a spot welder.

Thoughts?

Here's the parts I'm talkin bout. They're behind the big plastic banana thing.

shouldn't be difficult to do. drill out the spot welds, tack in the new one, spend the extra$ and let a shop check your cars alignment (if you think you hit that hard), finish the welds. wipe hands on pants.

i've had the alignment done like a dozen times since then.. it's probably due anyway so i'll get it checked eventualy. it all looks straight beyond the cross beam.

I guess I should paint it all too since it only comes primed?

I think he meant frame alignment, not chassis alignment. That piece squares up the front of the frame. If you don't weld it in with the chassis sitting perfectly flat and square you can affectively "warp" you chassis. Just a thought.

well hopefully it's not going to move. it's sitting on jackstands at the moment and it wasn't hit hard enough to deform anything behind that (no airbag deployment). I suppose I can measure before and after from a known datum and jack it into place as needed.

a tweaked frame would suck.
