Why i drive a miata!

Just thought Id post a few reasons why I own a miata.

1. Just posted a add in wtb for a coolant inlet houseing,
and within minutes i have someone (04miata) reply through M2cupcar because he dosnt have enough post to answer direct w/ a "Its yours" and then he calls me to get my address when i ask what i owe him he says a beer!!!(if im ever at the same place)so thanks a bunch 04miata..

2.If I ever need advice I know olderguy or braineack will be right there to answer.

3.I love beating the shit out of all the rednecks mustangs and cameros w/my 4 banger!!!!!!!!

If you have some reasoning for owning such a great car lets here them!

levnubhin 03-27-2008 05:58 PM

ROFL!

I got mine because it is the cheapest thing to track and DD for a college student, I am slapping on a turbo because the car is painfully slow on the street.

love to see the faces on the rich pricks at the autocross events that show up in the latest european sports car just to get smoked by a 102 whp car bought for 800 bucks. :giggle: oh....and gets 29mpg.

p.s.: no longer 102 whp:skid:

Vashthestampede 03-27-2008 06:59 PM

Most people underestimate them and label them "faggy", therefore making the car that much more rewarding in every way.

P.S. Girls absolutely love riding in them, driving or parked!

Vash-

my GF hates riding in my car because of stiff springs and the fact that she knows I spend more money on it then her.

hehe mine whined because i had just bought a race seat for my driver's side and not the passenger, so i ended up getting another and now she can't stand riding more than 10 minutes in the car.

I got mine because I really wanted an old MG like the one my friend had 25 years ago, but I didn't want a rust bucket or to deal with Lucas electrics

Austins, Fiats, MGs, and the like in this area are all rusted out, or have been "restored", most to questionable standards (bondo=rust repair). Those are usually way overpriced as well. Parts are fairly expensive, and options for mods are nearly non existant.

Pitlab77 03-27-2008 07:16 PM

My GF hated the 92.

It was fast but rought lol. Stiff springs, and matched shocks set the same as a track on the street. My AC worked 40% of the time in Texas heat, and it was loud after 3500 rpms lol.

She loves the 99 sport so much more.

Although I still get the "you spend to much on it" after such things as finding out how much I spent on r-compound tires when she needs new tires for her sentra :hustler:

driftbandito 03-27-2008 07:17 PM

I got mine b/c there's nothing like owning a mid 90's i-talian american sports roadster.

zoomnick 03-27-2008 07:23 PM

i love it!!!!!!!

Rode in my buddies 93 turbo and was instantly sold :-) Spotted the '00 neglected in a dealer lot and got a deal -> won my GF over in it (now wife) :bigtu:, then added turbo, thoroughly wasted 6 of 8 sets of tires at the gap and the still get ~28mpg commuting while smoking 98% of the cars on the way in. It's reliable as hell - I don't know any car that would take this much pounding and not crap out (I thoroughly killed an early 90's eclipse turbo - think 2 motors, 1 turbo, cracked exhaust mani, blown 1st,2nd gear on two occasions and seized xfer case - it was an AWD turbo and stock at that and I didn't drive it anywhere near as hard as I do the miata).

The're bodies littered the parking lot. It was a massacre. I walked up to the one who was obviously the leader. His windpipe had been knocked in by a well landed uppercut to the neckal area. Neckal area

Mmhmm

i wasnt even looking for a miata when i bought mine. found a good deal on one in craigslist, i love mazda so i went to look at it, then test drove it, and had to have it.

mikeflys1 03-27-2008 09:42 PM

Fits in the garage better when its up on jackstands for months at a time.

Efini~FC3S 03-27-2008 10:28 PM

I bought mine because I wanted a good track car for cheap.

I used to have a 240sx and after I built that car I realized I could have a car with the same amount of power, weigh 400-500 lbs less and have much better handling for the same amount of money. So I sold the 240 and have been building the miata with those proceeds.

Same here. I was originally looking for an FC to do an LS1 swap on.

miataz 03-27-2008 10:45 PM

Took a ride in my neighbors was fascinated and loved it, so i looked at a couple before getting one and got it.

///tonic 03-27-2008 10:57 PM

Three reasons for me:

1. Track days are far cheaper with Miata-size tires and brakes vs. M3
2. Looking for a sub 10 lb/whp weight-to-power ratio, and it's waaay cheaper Miata vs. M3
3. My girlfriend and I took the roomate's Miata out for a cruise a couple times last summer, and it was a beautiful thing.

cueball1 03-27-2008 11:14 PM

Great track day car.
Don't feel guilty putting miles on it.
Turbo'd power to weight is fantastic and affordable.
Going topless.
Reliable, good mileage, blah blah blah...

All reason's for getting it. Reason to keep it...

It's a car you feel connected to. You know exactly what it's doing and what it's going to do. Too many "sports" cars simply isolate you too much - numb steering - harsh breakaway - poor visibility - rubbery shifter - etc.

Sentic 03-28-2008 07:35 AM

Bought mine becouse its a great handling little car. The GF absolutely loves it, but on the other hand, she didn't complain a bit about my last car, wich was practically solid, full track suspension, group A rally engine mounts and the like :) Miatas are comfortable ;)

msydnor 03-28-2008 07:49 AM

Test drove it and loved it. Went to test drive a mustang vert. They had an MSM in the show room and I was sitting in it waiting for the guy to get the keys to the mustang. I noticed...I FIT! then I noticed it was turbo charged....didn't know they ever came in a turbo. So I decided to take it for a spin. It was fun as hell! FYI, everyone that drives a mustang is not a redneck. I have an 87 GT (608 rwhp).... git some vern.

zoomnick 03-28-2008 08:22 AM

no not everyone! but i live in a little PODUNC town and all of them here are...you know the ones with different color doors, 1 t-top, and oh yeah.....the dumb ass with a v-6 stang a fart can and a park bench for a spoiler! now thats redneck white trash.

Saml01 03-28-2008 09:53 AM

I drive a miata because my mom wouldnt let me get a motorcycle.

Faeflora 03-28-2008 11:18 AM

drop top. handles like a motherfucker. easy to scare my passengers with (even when NA). easy to work on. cute. :)

Its easier because it just feels right.

hustler 03-28-2008 12:22 PM

I bought it because it was cheap, rwd, trackable, and reliable. Nothing like going from a $44k TTcoupe to a $1600, 18-year old car that is faster and more reliable.

Its also a lot easier to visibly flip-off people when the tizzop is drizzoped. Its also good for hollering at bitches...and by bitches I mean dudes.
