is an A/R .48 M24 a decent t3?t4 turbo??

Saml01 03-25-2008 11:40 PM

t25

highroller101 03-26-2008 02:26 AM

everyone on this forum seems to love the gt25... is it better then the t3/t4?

teknikscian 03-26-2008 03:16 AM

just more ready made solutions for the t25

cjernigan 03-26-2008 03:24 AM

Is that spacer a one of piece you had made locally? I'm assuming so considering the drawing and quality of the piece.

The GT25 and T3/T4 are totally different beasts. GT25 is a fast spooling lower HP turbo while the T3/T4 is a slow spooling powerhouse.

Braineack... your picture didnt show
cjernigan, I made it, machine shop. and my turbo spools very quickly, almost no lag at gets right to 15psi almost instantly im at my set boost by 4000rpm 18psi

not really sure what kind of suspension i have.. help..? and is it any good? it feels like it works pretty well on the track!

highroller101 04-26-2008 10:23 PM

Alright guys Im still in the process of doing my re-route.. I am trying to make a re-route where you can re-use all stock parts... so far the only non stock parts are a spacer i made and a plate. and a turbo tim thermostat.. looks like i need one piece of flex hose to be done!!! Utilizing all stock parts!!

Looks like GAB shocks and Racing beat springs. I personally have never heard of GABS, but I pulled this bit of info on them off m.net.

GAB is the only manufacturer to make a shock that adjusts for both rebound and jounce. As well, their 8 way adjustables have a range that is just a tad stiffer than stock to making you wonder if the shocks are actually moving at all and aren't just red chucks of aluminum stuffed into the cavity. The adjustment can be done while the car is sitting in a parking lot with no tools at all, the knobs are just infront of the lower pickup points. The major limitations of GAB are two fold, their price (close to $600+ retail) and the lack of availability. (only available though a company called Wingz in the Bay Area (510) California)

This is from back in 95' mind you, so things have changed a bit since then.

I had GAB on an old subaru track car. They were awesome. But spendy. Rebuilds were a pain too.

highroller101 04-28-2008 01:55 PM

So would you say they are a good shock for a race car? From Vash it sounds like they are better for street use..? Once again this is mainly a track car for me so if i can get the car to stick MORE like glue, I would LOVE it.

Splitime 04-28-2008 02:10 PM

Ah, I was wondering what you were doing for thermostat. I didn't see a lip machined into the spacer to allow for it... mine is clamped in there atm... i do NOT trust it... (mine).

Maybe external thermostat will be a simpler format for me.

Are there pics/prices for Tims external housing?

Oh.. and how did you align the cams without the back plate? Just marked and clamped in place prior? I fought getting them setup with the black back plate... then just said fug it... and tossed it back on.

highroller101 04-28-2008 02:15 PM

Turbo Tim made me a external thermostat housing with a High Flow 180* sensor and I drilled 2 1/8" holes in it to allow for more flow. Im really doing a serious custom job... But it sure looks to be promising!!! I am taking the turbo water return line and routing that through the Heater core! then using that spacer I made to run the heater return line back into the system. And I am machining the thermostat housing to retain the "green" temp sensor.

yeah guy, where is your cam gear backing plate?

Cheap DIY ducting. Force all air through fans instead of around the edges there.
