We've been working with Karcepts to develop a new version of their ND/Fiat 124 spherical bearing top hats specifically for the Ohlins coilover system. The result is what you see below, 6061 aluminum hats with PTFE lined spherical bearings that are a drop-on fit to the Ohlins. Offers the most direct response and performance of the shock by eliminating the binding that can happen in rubber bushings.

We used these hats in our Grassroots Motorsports face-off between the ND and Fiat 124 at Streets of Willow where they performed perfectly.

Keep in mind that rubber bushings are used in factory hats to reduce NVH. Switching to a bearing improves performance and consistency in the handling but in some cases it may increase NVH slightly. However, not all bearings or hats are created equally. Karcepts uses a spherical bearing with a Teflon liner that eliminates the metal-on-metal contact in other bearing designs and to date they have sold over 600 spherical bearings to customers and have not had a single case of a bearing wearing out or a customer reporting added NVH. Along with instant response, these mounts will help the damper do it's job properly, verses deal with oscillations caused by rubber bushings. Additionally, a coaxial setup such as this will limit side loads on the damper pistons and seals, which in turn should extend the life of the dampers.
