DIY Dual Feed Rail Fittings

2 Attachment(s)
If anyone is interested, I did the DIY dual feed modification to the stock fuel rail a little different than most using AN fittings and stainless hard line. I figure one just wants a kit of sorts, this might help. Like all my other post, if you are interested just let me know. I should get some pictures uploaded shortly. Not sure on price yet, but it shouldn't be too bad.
The kit would include:
NPT to AN adapter
Stainless hard line with AN Nut
Required fuel line and tee
Hopefully this weekend I will get some pictures up so that it makes a bit more sense. The two pics below dont have the stainless hard line, just the adapter.

looks pretty good. If it's pretty reasonable I might have to pick one up as I'm headed for boosted land and would rather have what I can done to protect before rather than later.

Fuel rail painted gold looks pretty serious, might have to do that when I take mine out.

ApexOnYou 02-08-2007 05:50 PM

If only you posted two weeks ago before I used a barb fitting to make mine. :( Glad to see someone offering a kit now though.

TheBandit 02-08-2007 05:58 PM

Sorry man, I wish I would have thought about it sooner myself. Hopefully it will still benefit some. Did you ever get your fitting situation to work out?
-Michael-

ApexOnYou 02-08-2007 06:14 PM

Im sure this will help plenty, the whole time I was making mine I kept thinking how I would love the piece of mind of stainless lines. I do still have an extra rail.. Hm.. Maby if the price is right I will convert my spare using SS braided.

A member on here offered me that oil feed fitting for ten bucks, i think ill just buy that.

TheBandit 02-08-2007 06:22 PM

Well, it won't be using stainless braid, or at least I hadn't intended too. This will utilize stainless hard line, like my water line kits use. Glad you got fitting problem cleared up.

ApexOnYou 02-08-2007 06:34 PM

Oh so would it still use rubber line? I was thinking it would be like FMs new fuel rail setup, with braided lines.

TheBandit 02-08-2007 07:22 PM

Yea, it would use rubber fuel line to connect the hard line to the tee. I haven't seen FM's new stuff. Hopefully I can get a pic up soon.

They just put it on their site. Its purple.. eek.

Efini~FC3S 02-08-2007 08:09 PM

I'm definately interested, I was planning on doing this mod this weekend but can wait if there's a decent 'kit' available.

I don't know why they chose to use purple for their products, are they trying to copy HKS?

red, blue, black, gold even bare machined aluminum would have looked nicer than purple.

+1

Not digging the "glamma 2nr!" thing, ya kno?

krayzrac3r 02-08-2007 09:08 PM

that looks killerrr....id take one in semi flat black. Im going for an all black theme underhood.

TheBandit 02-08-2007 10:52 PM

Well, this would just be the fittings and hose required, and you would alter the stock rail yourself. I just showed my rail to give you an idea of how it looks.

Mine is matte black, looks good!

ThePass 02-09-2007 02:36 AM

So its just the fitting that you need to screw into the drilled and tapped rail and what hard line? I'm probably just confused but please clarify. Or a pic would be enough lol.
I can't imagine it costing much if its just a fitting and line...?
What size is the NPT to AN fitting and what diameter is the hard line?

TurboTim 02-09-2007 08:04 AM

Looks good!

TheBandit 02-09-2007 10:43 AM

The kit would include:
1/8" NPT to -6 AN adapter
3/8" Stainless hard line with -6 AN Nut
Required fuel line and tee
Like I said earlier it shouldn't be very expensive, but it will be more than just a 1/8 NPT to 5/16 barb which is what is generally used. I think once I get a pic of the whole thing, you will understand a lot better. Thanks Tim!

GTS Miata 02-09-2007 01:06 PM

I'd probably be interested... I guess it will work on the 1.6 and the 94-97 1.8?

Here are a few pictures of the Dual Feed kit as it will be on my car.

Looks good to me, might get that bundle from you along with that restrictor we talked about. Have to let you know later though. Clean install though.

Atlanta93LE 02-11-2007 07:41 PM

Damn clean engine. Nice!

miatamania 02-11-2007 08:14 PM

very clean man...very clean. :)

TheBandit 02-15-2007 11:20 PM

I think these are going to go for around $30. There are certainly some options and such and I need someone who has there EGR to test and make sure it fits good. I'm sure it will, but I want to be sure. Let me know if you are interested.

GTS Miata 02-16-2007 08:13 AM

so the only other thing we'd need is a drill bit and a tap to thread the hole, correct? What size hole would it be?

TheBandit 02-16-2007 10:47 AM

That is correct, all you will be required to do is drill and tap the end of the rail. If there is enough interest, I may be able to provide the drill and tap for a small fee. The hole size is 1/8 NPT.

You can always come over and use my (dad's) tap. You work in Gainesville right? I'm in the Dacula/Hoschton area.

jayc72 02-16-2007 10:59 AM

1/8" NPT tap and 11/64 (I think) bit are easily sourced from any decent hardware store, if you want one of your very own. One of the most useful things I've got in my toolbox is a complete metric/standard tap and die set.

Efini~FC3S 02-16-2007 12:36 PM

Any eta on when this will be available. I've got my fuel rail off and want to get started on it.

TheBandit 02-16-2007 01:45 PM

I am going by my supplier today to get all the parts to finish my car. Let me know if anyone wants one this week and I can get it made. I will have to know here pretty shortly if you want it shipped this week.
-Michael-

MicaCeli 05-16-2007 04:30 PM

I would love a set of these.

speedracerTD04 05-16-2007 05:01 PM

wasn't someone going to sell the DIY kit?

TheBandit 07-04-2007 04:45 PM

Hey guys, sorry I haven't been able to be reached lately. Both of my grandfathers are very sick and im working alot of hours right now and haven't had any time to do anything. If things get cleared up soon I will let you know, but right now I just don't have time to get all the pieces gathered up.

I'm quite interested in the dual feed fual rail.
I'm in Singapore but can pay PayPal.

What's the cost like and any idea how much to ship?
