GB on Touge Run front lips

As requested by Miataturbo.net peoples. We're running a group buy on our polyurethane front air dams. If we get 20 people, the price is $179. If we can get 35, the price is $169. We're giving ourselves two weeks to get enough people, so we need to get everyone on board by June 11th.

We're running this through the FM Group Buy Center - http://flyinmiata.com/groupbuy/index.php. Here's how it works.

neogenesis2004 05-28-2010 04:47 PM

Prepare for a CR.net hatebomb :P Touge > GV all day.

CR.netters are second class citizens :drama:

I getz paid the tenth, hoping that my car doesnt blow up by then, I will be getting one.

Braineack 05-28-2010 04:51 PM

Who wants a factory front chin spoilter for $150? Daddy needs a tongue running along my chin.

FRT_Fun 05-28-2010 05:00 PM

If I didn't have one already I'd get in on this! Good deal.

mgeoffriau 05-28-2010 05:20 PM

Man, I haven't even installed my R package lip yet. Can't decide if the Touge Run is too aggressive...I want something in between the Touge Run and the R package.

Keith@FM 05-28-2010 05:26 PM

Thanks, Tyson. Basically, we take orders but don't charge your card. If the buy goes through, we charge the cards and ship. But we don't charge your card or do anything with the order unless the buy actually happens.

We do it this way because forum-run group buys usually turn into a big cluster. We had one on MT.net where only 2 of 10 people followed through with money. Obviously, that didn't work out for anyone. This way, if we get enough people, the group buy does go through. Having the list of names in the Group Buy center makes it really easy to figure out what's going on too.

Jfornachon 05-28-2010 05:31 PM

If there was for the NB I would be in on this in a heartbeat.

Have a great day,
Jared

Keith@FM 05-28-2010 05:32 PM

Well, if we had them for the NB, they'd be included :) Trust me, it's on the wish list here.

Jfornachon 05-28-2010 06:06 PM

Just expressing my desire and pushing the issue to show the vast intrest it this part.

Have a great day,
Jared

No offense intended, but isn't this the same one Moss sells for the same price? How is this group buy a deal for anyone except FM?

Lol, good find. Looks like Moss is 179.95, I wonder if they just grab them from Touge's manufacturer.

buffon01 05-29-2010 12:08 PM

I just called Moss, the manufacturer is Blackhawk manufacturer. Doing research.

Bryce 05-29-2010 12:18 PM

I'm in. Consider this my first ever purchase of body appearance/performance parts.

bo2o 06-01-2010 01:38 PM

bump this page, 4 more needed for the group buy

2k6750 06-03-2010 03:34 PM

Just called. Need 3 more now I think.

bo2o 06-03-2010 05:42 PM

we have the 20 people for the 179 price, another 15 people we can get the 169

rleete 06-09-2010 09:11 AM

9 left to get the $169 price. Only 2 days left as well.

ArtieParty 06-09-2010 09:32 AM

Shipping included? Hardware included?

I too would like to see a response to this query.

rleete 06-09-2010 12:27 PM

No, shipping not included. The price for both is the same: $179. Shipping for the Moss one is slightly higher, at least for me, something like 6 bucks more. Moss does not mention any brand name, but from the pictures and descriptions it is the same one.

I have no idea if hardware is included with either one. Since is it "simple bolt-on" installation and is not mentioned, I imagine HW is left up to the buyer in both cases. Half a dozen bolts and nylock nuts will run you what? 5 bucks max?

I still think they (FM) should be offering more of a price break, as they currently have 27 confirmed buyers.

levnubhin 06-09-2010 12:33 PM

28 if they can do better.

If they hit the 169 price, I'm in, but I won't sign up until then. So, 29 (kinda).

[Geddy voice]Ten bucks is ten bucks [/Geddy voice]

FRT_Fun 06-09-2010 12:37 PM

FWIW when I got mine from Touge Run it came with hardware... (Screws)

rleete 06-09-2010 12:41 PM

Self-tapping? I'm not sure I'd trust them to hold up very well, as there isn't a lot of meat on the underside of the front lip to grab into.

If that's what they are, and what you used, are they holding okay?

FRT_Fun 06-09-2010 12:44 PM

To be honest I can't remember 100%. Mine is holding just fine whatever it is. I'd check now but the car is 15 min away.

BRITGN 06-10-2010 11:59 AM

Last Day!!! I got in on this today. 6 more and it's down to $169.00 for everyone. :D Now I have to figure out what to do with my R-package front lip. If the mounting holes are the same, I can switch them out.

-Cheers,

Jim

I'm also on the fence here, I mean this isn't something I need, so when the time comes I wouldn't really cry over ten bucks...

Don't wanna crap on GB, I do appreciate us being included-just hoping to have seen a bit better of a bargain considering the volume...

ArtieParty 06-10-2010 02:25 PM

Or you can wait for Moss to have another 15% off sale. They have them a couple times a year. That's how I got my Hardcore rollbar.

BRITGN 06-10-2010 03:37 PM

$199.00 everyday price but, 5 more people get in on this and it drops down to $169.00. I'm no math wizz but that's gotta be like 15% off.

BTW, "Thanks" goes out to you guys on this site for making this happen.

-Cheers,

Jim

This is true.

Me front lip money turned into radiator money over the weekend. The HD lip lives a little longer. Haha.

Yea, you're definitely not a math wiz.

Moss everyday price is $179.95... 15% off is 27 dollars off. Shipping for me is 22.35 from them. That brings the total to $175.30 shipped. Moss just offered the 15% off in April. I'm sure it'll come around again.

So you're really not saving that much by this deal and FM has yet to comment on whether or not the spoiler is in fact the same. So in fact, this group buy is just getting FM a lot of business for the same money as elsewhere but people think they're getting a killer deal.

turotufas 06-10-2010 04:24 PM

15% of 200 is 170, for the FM. Though the Moss lip would be a better deal.

RotorNutFD3S 06-10-2010 04:46 PM

It's also regularly "on sale" for $199.99 on Togue Run's website, so if this is what Moss is selling, they're selling it $20 cheaper than their supplier does.

Unless Moss just gets it with other overseas orders from the manufacturer.

True, it could be a knock off of a knock off. Or maybe Moss gets them from Garage Vary:crx:

-Jim

rleete 06-10-2010 06:03 PM

I ordered. 33 "official" buyers, so I should be #34. One more for the lower price.

Maybe not the best deal, but slightly better than Moss with shipping.

Keith@FM 06-10-2010 07:08 PM

Sorry, I wasn't paying attention to the discussion. I think Moss dropped the price in response to the group buy. You'll have to ask them about their pricing strategy.

These do come with the hardware you need to install them. They are self-tapping screws, but they seem to work. Mazda uses self-tapping screws when they attach plastic to plastic, by the way - check out what's used on the factory plastic undertray.

We've cleared 35 now, so anyone who orders before we close on Friday gets the lower price.

Woooo hoooooo!!! :bowrofl:

Nagase 06-11-2010 01:41 AM

Hey, i was 35. Talked to a guy there and asked about the hardware for the install. Thanks for putting up the info, Keith. :)

turbodog's dad 06-11-2010 01:41 PM

I'm sure it's just a mistake on their part, but Moss is selling the spoiler under the MAP or minimum advertised price that all the vendors have to agree to. FM was invited by Touge Run to run a group buy in response to miataturbo.net requests. Otherwise we cannot sell for under $199 without the importer's permission.

Keith@FM 06-14-2010 12:01 PM

We got a total of 45 people. We'll start shipping them out this week - we just got a shipment of 40 on Friday. The last few folks will have to wait a bit longer until the next shipment gets to us. Thanks everyone!

fooger03 06-14-2010 01:23 PM

(FYI, for those who will be upgrading your hardware)

Hardware included with the GV lips from M-Tuned GB (When I bought in january 2009) was Bolts, Washers, and Nylock nuts.

IIRC, They were priced accordingly too

Bryce 06-17-2010 04:48 PM

Mine was sitting at the door, waiting for me today. Yay!

Nagase 06-17-2010 04:50 PM

Awesome! Totally looking forward to this, off to check my mail. :D

Edit: Aww, not here. Might be the prop valve and clutch switch i ordered too.

WOW, that's fast shipping. I spoke to them today, and mine was just shipped, so I am hoping early next week.

-Jim

2k6750 06-17-2010 10:46 PM

Mine's scheduled to be here Monday. Hopefully I'll have my front end put back together so I can put it on.

rleete 06-18-2010 08:38 AM

Mine is shipping, and scheduled for next Thursday. Just in time for the weekend. I was one of the last to get in, something like #39 out of 41.

How long before one pops up in the for sale section?

When one does, I'll probably pick it up.

asianalpha 11-05-2010 09:37 PM

do another group buy!

240_to_miata 11-06-2010 08:08 AM

^^what he said.

buffon01 11-06-2010 08:24 PM

+2

chpmnsws6 11-06-2010 08:29 PM

I'd probably be in if anyone can best the 199 shipped I found by much.

y8s 11-07-2010 09:49 AM

i'd recommend that someone with a little organizational skill just contact FM or Togue Run directly instead of posting in the old thread. hinthint.

Keith@FM 11-08-2010 09:06 AM

We're looking at the possibility of another - we'll see what Togue Run says. But mr Y8s is correct. If you want FM to run a group buy, the best way to let us know is to contact FM.

SlideRuler 11-08-2010 09:28 AM

anyone in for a GB on the FM crossflow rad and stage 2 fans? I'd rather not spend $800+ maybe if we get 20 people or so, we could get both for like $650-700?

y8s 11-08-2010 10:48 AM

ok but you have to install it as a front lip since you posted in this thread.

ok maybe I should start a thread strictly for gauging interest in what we want for group buys from FM?
