Sorry about double post

miatauser884 07-22-2009 11:56 AM

Please put my name down for the supertechs. I can't pass on that price.

aznDragonX 07-22-2009 12:30 PM

I am in for supertech

hustler 07-22-2009 12:52 PM

I'm toying with the idea of picking up a set of 11.5:1 supertechs. I might get in on this. Which vendor is it through, and what if they screw up the order...will they guarantee fitment?

In for supertechs

SKMetalworks 07-23-2009 01:03 AM

Do the pistons differ 1.6 vs 1.8?

Im still undecided if i want to build a my current motor or go with a 99

chokeasphyxia 07-23-2009 07:22 AM

Put me in for Wiseco's, I'll do Supertech's if the Wiseco's don't have for the gb though.

yes they have different bores.

OK WE NOW HAVE ENOUGH PPL FOR THE SUPERTECHS, WHAT DO U GUYS WANT TO DO?

tyson87 07-23-2009 10:59 AM

Ok i need to know what part number u want, rings are included.
What bore, what compression?

Braineack 07-23-2009 11:02 AM

Don't go out of your way to post what's available in bore/CR or what the part numbers are.

tyson87 07-23-2009 11:07 AM

New info, i can get us wiseco for $425 shipped

Joe Perez 07-23-2009 11:25 AM

Based upon the lower CoE, still in for the S-techs.

SpyHunter 07-23-2009 12:24 PM

When are you looking to order? I need pistons yesterday. Would be interested in the supertechs.

Curious as to the difference between the standard supertechs, and belfabs.

I can't PM, so if you could send me an email @ spyhunterjp@gmail.com, that would be great. Thankyou.

John

Belfab is a vendor, Supertech is a manufacturer. Belfab sells the pistons that Supertech makes.

Stein 07-23-2009 12:42 PM

John, I thought you already had forged pistons in your built motor?

I sent you an email about co-driving my car at the August event if you aren't driving the car that you will be driving at nationals.

juxt3r 07-23-2009 01:40 PM

One question: does the vendor have the pistons in stock? Specifically P4-MA790-N10.

tyson87 07-23-2009 01:58 PM

i am talking with the vendor/supertech to see what is available right now and how long before something will be available.

please pm or post up ur part numbers so it is a little easier for me to keep this organized.

tyson87 07-23-2009 02:22 PM

these are the only part numbers i have been given from everyone.

P4-m84-p2 6 sets on hand
P4-ma790-n10 – none – 1-2 weeks out
P4-ma84-n4 very similar to cr9 (no more n4 superceding to cr9) – 0 sets - aprrox 2 weeks
P4-m8350-p2 – 4 sets

also, i got the ok to on the wiseco, so if ur intrested in the wisecos, give me the part number

What exactly does this mean, i would be interested in the p4-ma84-n4, but not he cr9.

tyson87 07-23-2009 02:38 PM

supercede
Definition:
To replace in power, authority, validity, or importance.

the p4-ma84-n4 (8.6:1) will be replaced by the p4-ma84-cr9 (9:1)

Wow, i am so glad you can quote a dictionary, the question was why there are no more of the preferred compression/bore for most turbo applications, is this because they stopped making them or what, because while 9.0 is "very similar" it is not the same.

Braineack 07-23-2009 02:54 PM

i'd rather have the 9:1 vs the 8.6:1

supertech has discontinued this part, it is being replaced by the cr9.

Project84 07-23-2009 05:20 PM

...I should probably learn about this shiat so I can make an educated purchase rather than just join in and buy since they're cheap.

Thanks for doing the legwork for the deal, whether or not I get to join in. :)

Joe Perez 07-23-2009 05:35 PM

Well that sucketh...

Guess I'm in for set of P4-MA84-CR9.

Do we know what rings they're including?

tyson87 07-23-2009 05:39 PM

they are including the rings that go with the pistons (the recomended part#)

neogenesis2004 07-23-2009 05:43 PM

I PMed you what I want SOB. Where are my pistons!?!?!?

chokeasphyxia 07-23-2009 05:47 PM

I'd like the K553M84 Wiseco's. Also, what's this "different valve angles on 1999+"? Interested as these are going into a '99.

tyson87 07-23-2009 05:56 PM

i called wiseco on this
"the 94-97 head has different valve angles than the 99+, so pistons for the 99+ head would need to be custom ordered for about 140$ a piece/560$ a set"

i will call supertech to make sure this is not the same for there pistons

y8s 07-23-2009 06:03 PM

I have a set of the 83.5mm 8.6:1 pistons with rings that I'd be willing to trade someone if they order me what I want in exchange. I'd probably go for the 9:1 84mm...

tyson87 07-23-2009 06:06 PM

ok, supertech said that the pistons will work

tyson87 07-23-2009 06:15 PM

P4-ma7850-n13 – 4 sets in stock

Is this different-parts-for-99+-heads deal also true for low compression pistons?

tyson87 07-23-2009 09:16 PM

this is for off the shelf parts. not custom parts

JasonC SBB 07-23-2009 09:51 PM

Just to clarify - how much would 8.6:1 or 9:1, 83.5 or 84.0 mm Supertech pistons for the 99+ cost?

tyson87 07-23-2009 10:00 PM

all supertechs are 355$ shipped

chokeasphyxia 07-23-2009 11:09 PM

In that case, I'm in for the 84mm 8:6:1 P4-MA84-N4 Supertech's.

aznDragonX 07-24-2009 12:17 AM

okay..I will get Supertech 84mm 9:1 P4-MA84-CR9 for 1999 motor.

Deepstriker 07-24-2009 01:19 AM

Is there any information regarding the expansion rate of both pistons? Also looking for what sort of tolerances they use for pistons (in terms of weight and size). I couldn't find any info on the manufacturer websites.

miatauser884 07-24-2009 11:30 AM

Pistons are $365 shipped, not $355. I know it's not a big deal, but it will save Adam from having everyone say that they were listed as 355 on the forum.

Joe Perez 07-24-2009 01:21 PM

For those of you mourning the loss of the 8.6:1 piston, I just got off the phone with Supertech. Martin told me that I was the third person who had called about them recently, and that they're going to have a meeting about putting them back into production. Lead time, if they decide to go ahead, will be appx 6 weeks, and the vendor price will be unchanged.

The question, of course, is what effect this will have on the GB. I gave Martin my phone number and asked him to let me know what they decide one way or the other, so hopefully we'll have something to go on before too long.

Tyson, what are the odds that we can get NoLimit to extend the GB for those of us who want to wait for the lower CR piston? If we get a commitment from SuperTech, perhaps we could do a pre-order and have them delivered when available?

y8s 07-24-2009 02:40 PM

nobody wants to trade my supertech 8.6:1 new in box 83.5mm pistons for something else? if most people dont care and one person does, this is a great opportunity :P

Joe Perez 07-24-2009 02:55 PM

I would, except I don't have the engine I'm going to use in-hand yet. My fear is buying them and then finding that the cylinders are too far gone to take a 83.5mm set/

tyson87 07-24-2009 03:24 PM

the reason they had 3 ppl call is cause i called twice...
talked with martin and willy

SKMetalworks 07-25-2009 12:49 AM

Somone convince me what ones to buy. I have 2 1.6L motors both in cars that i can build. Or i can grab a 99 motor with an unknown problem for like 300. Or i can get a 2001 motor for 650. What one should i build?

I got M-Tuned rods so now i need to find what motor i want to build and i have to get in on this GB.

Plans are for a fast track/street car. Goal of 300 WHP

tyson87 07-25-2009 09:23 AM

if ur pockets are need, go with a build like y8s or a build like paul

Possibly me.

aznDragonX 07-27-2009 12:32 PM

what's the status of GB?

Tyson..if they can't make Supertech 84mm 8:6:1 P4-MA84-NA4 then I will take Supertech 84mm 9:1 P4-MA84-CR9

Supertech 84mm 9:1 P4-MA84-CR9 is what u will need.
call adam and place ur order.

aznDragonX 07-27-2009 02:23 PM

thank you..just put in an order with Adam.

tyson87 07-27-2009 04:56 PM

only 3 have paid so far

chokeasphyxia 07-27-2009 05:17 PM

My first & second choice of pistons have both not worked out, I'm debating what I want to do now. Maybe a group buy on thicker then OEM head gaskets for those of us that wanted 8.6:1 CR? lol.

tyson87 07-27-2009 05:19 PM

call adam, talk to him tell him what u want, i would prefer the cr9 myself,

VanMSM 07-28-2009 03:46 PM

I just ordered the P4-MA84-CR9 from Adam.

Just to let you guys know, he said these pistons are on back order and should ship directly from Supertech in 2 weeks or so.
