Haltech Mounting in an NB2
Hello friends.
I bought an MSM with a Hydra. I have recently thrown that sh*t in the trash and installed a Haltech Elite 1000, complete with PNP harness, CAN gauge, and wideband.
I plugged the Haltech in and loaded the appropriate basemap; the car proceeded to start easier than ever. Problem is, now I have a lovely ECU and bundle of wires accompanying the space that my feet need to go in the driver's footwell.
Since my car didn't come with a stock ECU (or brackets), I can't just modify the stock brackets and install the new brain in the old brain spot. Before I go through the effort of engineering my own solution I wanted to ask the hivemind and see if there were any creative solutions that I haven't found yet. (I have seen the airbag delete/replacement, that's a neat solution)
So, where put brain?

Detach the oem harness. It is long and is routed from the passenger side anyways. Guide it back through the small opening where it's routed behind the hvac/heater. The harness plug ends will easily reach the floor panel area and you can mount the ecu similar to how na 1.6's have it from the factory.

This location also makes it pretty easy to use the generously-sized AC line holes and grommets in the firewall to run cables to the engine bay.
(insert pics here when I take some)

This is interesting. I had seen people Mount units behind the air bag, but assumed they used an extension to do it.
With all the extra wires I now have coming from my MS3-Basic, I doubt I’ll move it now. But great info.
Also, brainzata, you discuss behind the glove box, but show behind the air bag. Which did you mean?
Finally, did the 1.6 ECU reside on the floor beneath the seat, or on the wall behind the seat?
