hydra 2.7 in my hands
I got my 2.7 box today from hydra, but it has no base map on it. Anyone have a clue if the 2.6 software will work on this thing? I would rather not fry the **** out of it.
To quote the bible:
MY NAME IS JEALOUS
And yes damnit ask hydra for the 2.7 software. Programming the trims etc should be cake but I wonder if all the spark/timing settings are the same.
who is your hydra from originally? FM?
Just got word back from hydra, they will be getting a new version of the software Monday or Tuesday and old versions of the software will not work.
Guess I will just have to wait. **** sucks, I have not been able to drive my car in 6 months due to weather and the ecu being ****. I WANNA MOTHER ****** DRIVE IT SO BAD.

holy trees with dicks batman Hydra just emailed me the software, I am pissing myself with happiness.
The software looks a bit better then the old stuff. Lucky for 2.6 users, there is a function to import a 2.6 map.

there are a ton of maps with this new version
a boost trim map that will cut boost by knock
coolant temp boost trim, port air temp boost trim, tip in enrichment, enrichment maps for AC, Idle target maps for AC,

will do, I am going to wait on getting a base map from Jeremy at FM. There is a TON of **** here. Unless someone can send me a base 2.6 map setup for 550s to screw around with. That would be mue bueno.
So I converted my 2.1 map to a 2.6 map to a 2.7. A few things get fucked in the process. mostly looks like individual trims for the ignition and some of the stuff for VE tuning. The ignition was set to -64 degrees for each coil, speed limiter set to 0mph. Some of the idle stuff is set wacky and needed to be fixed. Maybe I can start my car soon?
Looks like most of the outputs are kinda screwed up, and using different names. Going to take a bit to get it set up. Alternator control looks like it will be a lot easier to do, it has a specific map for it now and needs PID values.
So how much of a PITA is it to get my 2.1 map up and running on a 2.7? My reservation is the fact that my car is my DD so down time is a huge deal to me....and I get frustrated easily when **** isn't running right. If I can't get my map swapped over and it running buttery smooth right off the bat, I probably won't spend the $750-$1,000 on the upgrade.
Mostly the improved start-up and seperate a/c trims as well as some of the other trims. The long-term wbo2 is pretty damn attractive as well which would be nice when I turn the boost up a bit or get my hands on a squaretop manifold...no need to go get retuned for the increased performance. Running a/c with the 2.1 is "meh" at best when no on the highway...coming to stops is a PITA. For the most part, 2.1 has been fine for me and my goals.
What injectors are u running? I think improved start only applies for ID/DW injectors.
For $1000 you could buy a megasquirt and use it to run your A/C. As a hydra owner I think Hydra needs to die. Their pricing is retarded and they deserve no money for these crap upgrades.
