Speeding does not kill lives. Speed limits were created because too many morons don't know how to drive and we cater to the lowest common denominator.

1. As I said, speeding does not kill, rapid deceleration kills. Maybe we should outlaw crashing and that would solve the problem.

2. If speeding kills why are traffic accidents the number 1 cause of road going deaths? It's because someone was not in control of their vehicle. Morons kill, fast drivers are not necessarily morons. It's just that a high percentage of morons drive beyond their ability. I propose we also outlaw morons too.

3. Your black and white view of the world is more suited to an autistic person who cannot function without extreme structure, suggesting that you too might be a moron and maybe should be outlawed as well. If Phillip was still here you'd already be banned.

4. Your mother and sister are both problems on the road. Your mom drives too slow, this causes a speed differential in traffic which leads to dangerous situations, I wonder how many deaths she's responsible for... we'll never know because she obviously doesn't use her review mirror to watch the traffic piling up behind her. You sister is even a worse risk on the road, no doubt she hesitates and has trouble making decisions as she "learns" how to drive while the rest of us pay the price for that training... take her to bondurant and have her learn how to defensively drive right rather than being selfish and foisting her on the road going public that does know how to drive. Stop counting on our altruism to keep her safe.

5. Well need I say more. Next time you type something you might want to actually read what you are communicating. My god man, pull the stick out of your ***!

lol...if you don't write enough tickets, then you get disciplinary garbage. I work with a woman who previously was a cop. She bragged to me about a guy in a vette who she'd write "no front license plate" tickets on once a week or better. She also has a cool story about a guy who thought he was Jesus, and walked around naked with a machete.

i don't believe that laser jammers are illegal though, i know the radar jammers are very punishable and a federal crime, but lasers or so seldomely used that you can waste your money and jam it all you want. Is there really that large of a difference between walmarts cobra and the other high end stuff?

Depends on your neighborhood. I never get tagged by radar cops - I don't know why. I used to "commute" to visit my folks in college, and I'd go hours at a time without dropping below 100. I kept a good eye on my rearview, and was a little lucky I'm sure.

But the lasers... instant on, tight beam. I have some real doubts they pick up enough scatter to do any good.

I'm pretty sure laser jammers are a bad thing to have, get you in trouble.

On saturday I was going to a meeting up north (like 300 miles away) and was cruising at 135-145mph. When I just passed an on-ramp on to the freeway, I noticed a magnum police car..... I don't think he even tried going after me, or of he did try, he must of got off at the first exit, if he wouldn't I would be toast, since I drove over a brick and was on the side of the road 5 miles later. In Michigan, you can't get arrested for speed....

There's so much voodoo and hearsay in detectors/jammers that it's hard to get three people to agree, let alone 20. Here in SD, you HAVE to have good laser coverage. Other places a Valentine is the only way to go because it's radar performance is so good. If you live where they are illegal it should be undetectable.

Myself, I'd want something with Laser Jamming, or it's utterly useless to me.

My money is still on the fact that he was taken for the red, not for speeding. Someone mentioned they got a ticket because the cops always leave their radar on. In this case there is no proving if that was the case, whether it was on, off, or on and pointed in the right direction. I think the cop couldnt have just randomly stopped at a light, and started pointing his radar gun at oncoming traffic.
You evidently have never looked at a police car very closely. Most of them have forward and rearward mounted radar units, they don't come out of the vehicle at all. Then the officer has a "gun", most only have a laser unit (because radar is not as accurate in judging speed in high traffic areas like freeways as a laser is) and only use the mounted radar while they are in motion, but in some places they have both guns. When I was in training, we had a laser unit and mounted radar units in the windshields.
I'm pretty sure that the officer took off after him for the speeding violation as well as the stoplight violation, this is due to the fact that the mounted radar units are attracted to two things, speed and size. Even though the cruiser was behind another vehicle, the solid tone on the radar detector says that the radar was capable of making a complete lock on the two cars. The fact that the STi was moving faster than the BMW means the officer would see the STi's speed displayed first.

In present day terms, you are absolutely correct. But speed limits were actually introduced because of the Arab Oil Embargo in the early 70s.
I enjoyed the rest of your comments though. They are absolutely correct.

:EDIT: Oh, and laser jammers and radar jammers are illegal in the states of Nebraska, Minnesota, Utah, California, Oklahoma, Virginia, Colorado, Illinois and Washington DC. Everywhere else, have fun. IDK about Canada though as far as jammers, but I'm pretty sure that the three provinces that allow the use of detectors are Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan.

I just don't speed where there are known speed traps. At a previous job my commute was ~90mph with intervals of 60mph. I guess if you have to drive a lot in new areas it's a different story.
