They leak Ka band, my V1 picks up other detectors all the time and then blinks "J" (junk) to dismiss the warning.

So I take it the V1 is a wee bit better of a detector then the 40 dollar detector I bought from Wal-Mart? Damn, these things sound great.

The cop was sitting at a light, it wasnt a speed trap. The cop cant get him for speed even he was estimating, you cant just pull numbers out of your ***. The only thing he could get him on was the red light even if he knows he was speeding, no radar = no speeding and you can ask to see it too.

That cop was definitely painting them with radar. Judging by the duration of the alert he knew exactly how fast they were going.

If I got that ticket I'd argue the radar gun was focused on the guy who didn't fly through the light

You can't ask to see it in all states.. They recently passed a law in Wisconsin making it so the police do not have to show you the radar/laser reading.

WHY WOULD YOU PASS A LAW LIKE THAT?! It will ONLY benefit those who are dishonest on the police force.

If the detector is going off full-bore like that, a cop is aiming a gun straight at you, or nearly so.

I have seen cops leave their guns on sitting on their dash though, they set off my radar when they pass me, yet they arent actually taking radar.

Thats not true. Thats not how radar detectors work, they capture the presence of the emissions you dont necessarily have to be hit with it just in the vicinity. If you are correct in what you say, then a radar detector is pretty much useless because it will only go off when it hits you.

Laser detector needs to hit you before it sets your detector off yes, but thats why you have laser jammers. They are illegal in most states and if the cop tries to get you and sees its not working he can get you for using a laser jammer most likely. Dont quote me on this, this is a guesstimate.

Uhh... most newer radars will adjust for the cruiser speed and angle of attach so if his radar was on and aimed remotely closed to that direction he got a speed reading.

What do you mean remotely close, he has to aim right at the car to get a speed reading. But yes, you are correct the new detectors do allow the cop to be moving. However that is not relevant to this thread.

You guys can have your own opinions, I still think its the red light he got taken for and not the speed.

Yes, because it really didn't look like he was going that fast. Cops aren't exactly retarded and pretty much will be able to tell that you're not going speed limit... especially when you're exceeding the speed limit by at least 2x. CHP can use landmarks and time to actually guesstimate your speed close to within 5mph.

Have you used a V1? Full-strength signal is when the gun is pretty much dead on and close. You'll pick up the low level emissions first, but the solid tone in the video was definitely full strength.

Laser does not have to hit you, it has to be line of sight, yes, but that can include reflections and scatter.
