Be more direct and to the point. Something like this:

Dear shipping guy,

Why did you over value this item to $200? Because you put in a false value of $200 I had to pay additional duty, tax and brokerage fees to the tune of $XX. I can supply the relevant documentation to show that there error was on your end. I would appreciate a quick resolution to this problem.

Love,

French guy

Hustler GTFO my tread and keep it clean you orange ***!

Awwww they are so dumb so ******* dumb.... Received an other email

This is something you need to work out with Canadian customs. We never put a declared value on our shipping. Especially if the item is under 100.00 because on any lost item with UPS we are allowed up to 100.00 on anything lost. Even if we did put a declared value it would not have been 200.00 for a 60.00 item. I can not reimburse you for this because this is with Canadian Customs. We have never had this problem before and we send to Canada frequently. Sorry for the loss but Dave said this is a Canadian Customs problem not an Advanced Autosports problem. We have an excellent reputation here at Advanced Autosports unfortunately not everyone can be pleased all the time. If you have any further questions please reply.

**** OFF YOU CANT SEND A PACKAGE WITHOUT DECLARE IT'S VALUE. ITS THE BASE OF SHIPPING SOMETHING.

Hustler I need you to go there and break foot and arms!

Back the truck up. Did they declare the value at $200 or not?

Dispute it with UPS. Tell them that the shipper made a fraudulent value declaration. Let AA know you've done so.

"Dear Robin,
There are several discrepancies with your response to my issue. Please see the attached documentation showing ADVANCED AUTOSPORTS DECLARED THE ITEM VALUE @ $200.00. I was forced to pay $xx.xx because of the VALUE of the item being over stated.
I did not prepare this shipment, therefore I need for this to be worked out with AA immediately. And if AA finds it to be that UPS made the mistake, then I suggest you take it up with them. However, regardless it's obvious to see that the issues lies somewhere between AA or UPS, either way I repeat I DID NOT PREPARE THIS SHIPMENT, AND HAVE PROVIDED PROOF OF THE DECLARED VALUE WHICH CAN ONLY BE INPUTTED BY THE SHIPPER, ADVANCED AUTOSPORTS.

I expect an immediate resolution to this issue, as I have been more than patient until this point. My very next step will be to contact the BBB, and file a formal complaint and ask that they investigate to determine where the fraud occurred.

Sincerely, Terrence & Philip aye

Thank you very much Tal for that! I sent it!

But,

I have an idea that popped while working this night. When I'll change my clutch line, I'll pack the old one with the curly line, take it to UPS, write a value of 200$ and make the shipment COD (with 60$ to pay) to them.

AH, au fait, je vous emmerde tous, je suis fier d'être français

Yay! I love you Tvalenziano! Just got an email of AA and here what it say!

Dear Sebastion,

I am Dave Wheeler, owner of Advanced Autosports. I Thank You for your order and apologise for the inconvience this has caused.

I could go on at length as to how or why this happened. But I won't.

I will offer you a credit towards future purchases in the amount of $54.60. This is 2/3 of the $82.73 that you paid.

To get this you must place an order normally then contact myself at the email above. Please include a copy of this email to refresh my memory. I will then credit your account accordingly.

Please note that any shipping charges above our standard USA shipping will be deducted from this amount. As Robin stated in one of her earlier emails, we actually lost money on your shipping charges.

I hope this is satifactory to you
Dave

We have this group of folks that come down to VT every year from Ontario and Ottowa, some of them have their stuffed shippped to the hotel where they are staying, others to a "friendly" miata owners house in VT, where items are subsequently installed and brought back across the border with no taxes or fees... (those shiney FM mufflers add up quick).

Now I understand why...
P.S. I live 1/2hr from Quebec, and like Molsen Dry...

That's absolutely the right thing for them to do. My faith is restored that for the most part, Miata-centric businesses treat their customers right. I believe this incident has probably highlighted a deficiency somewhere in their shipping policy and maybe no more customers will have to go through it.

In any case, based on AA's response, I will be a repeat customer of their if the opportunity presents itself.

And for the rest of you Canadians, just wait until the $DOLLAR$ takes another ****-dive and you can probably buy thing cheaper shipped than we can in a damn store.

Yep! Me and a friend will buy the koyo rad. And this time to be sure, will be shipped to a fowarder just after the frontier so we will do our own duty/custom declaration.
