At the MD dyno day there was a Karmann Ghia that was single turbo'd. It was also my dream VW...I think it was chopped and the shifter was a german helmet or a skull wearing a german helmet? It had low back buckets, I think it was tubbed...I loved so much about this car.
Air cooled engine, non intercooled turbo w/ blow thru carb setup. It was black and looked like it belonged on the Bonneville salt flats. If I think about it later on, and if anybody cares, I'll post a pic of it...I'll have to dig around on my memory card.

How about a rock covered in gum? I took a hike up Stone Mountain yesterday to blow off some steam and try to forget about the shit that is eating me up lately. The last time I went up there I was much younger..maybe 20 years ago. I remembered there were some rocks and they were covered with gum. So On my way up I didn't see them, but on my way down, I found them...still collecting gum.

It was common to check and add water at every fill up in water cooled engines up through the 1960s. Most didn't use a catch can that returned coolant to the radiator until that time or later. It just went down a hose to the ground.

That's great. I didn't get pics, but there were several utility poles on the trail that were covered about 6ft up in gum as well.

It's obviously a highway racer, the only thing that takes less skill then drag racing is drag racing from a roll, or drag racing a evo/gt-r.

The (likley) all motor (more likely sprayed otherwise N/A small block) S10 pickup made his 1000hp car look slow as shit.. lol :giggle: Not the worst launch ever, but he sure won't win brackets like that...

Jeez people, getting all hateful in here with out reading the link. That was the second outing at the strip. He was much faster than the truck, the slip is in the link. That tree is setup to not start until the beam is tripped, so you can sleep all you want.

That run in the vid was a high 9 @140+ with a 1.56 60' that's not bad at all. But now it's in the 8's or low 9's or something stupid - Inforz in teh linkz

I'm really not bagging on the car that badly. Still think the power band is pretty fucking terrible, but that's what happens when you crank 8 or 900hp from a 120 cubic inch engine. What really surprises me (after clicking on link) is the fucking thing hasn't come flying apart yet. Maybe if mazda designed our cylinder heads with gaping anus ports like Honda has they'd make more power?

Apparently that is the norm for those guys. Our "safe" limit on a stock bottom end is 220-250wtrq, were theirs is something absurd like 500+whp and they can do that for years with no worries. There are tons of those people running over 700whp on bone stock motors and they never worry either.

I love miatas to death, but come on....our motors are just lacking in the power making department. 500+hp is not impossible by any means from a B6,BP but we can't do it anywhere near as easy or efficiently.

EDIT: Also their drivetrains are nuts. The dude blows a tranny and is like, "oh well, I guess this is too be expected at 1000hp, haha," I know there are a few K swaps going on now, but it won't surprise me if they start becoming more and more popular.

if you read the thread a little bit, he blew up 4th gear during the first run. the rear end is some aftermarket unit and the bottom end is forged.
