Indeed it is. We need to get the semi local guys together and make a trip there. I haven't been in close to a year, and I miss it. So much cool shit there.

See post #5995 to resolve confusion.

It's an aluminum-bodied '62 Falcon with the 4-cam Ford Indy V8 stuffed under the hood.

Why would somebody do that to that poor engine. Put it in an AC Cobra or something like that.

Dude.. No. Just No.

That engine is probably rated around 425hp naturally aspirated. Assuming you could shoehorn that motor in an AC Cobra just what the fuck are you going to do with it? ~2000 pounds and >600rwhp on a 90 inch wheelbase car..

A local guy has a 03 Cobra motor in his AC Replica which almost doesn't fit and gets no fucking traction. Ever. Don't get me wrong, its some sweet shit anyway, but still..

That one belongs to a friend of mine. "Mostly stock.." Only has a Ford 357 with a mild cam and Edelbrock EFI setup. First gear is useless, Second gear is mostly useless. Only car I've ever been in and nearly shit my pants while in fear for my life. The wheels are teh sex...

gearhead_318 11-29-2011 11:49 PM

That's a good point.

You ever hear about Carroll Shelby's personal dual-supercharged 427 Cobra? It apparently makes 800 horsepower and he built it in 1966. I think Bill Cosby had one just like it, or similar to it for a while before deciding it was too much and selling it. I think If I built a Cobra replica, I'd probably just want a 302 built to rev, something unique without so much power that it would make the car simi-useless.

Edit:

Yep, Cosby had one too:

In 1967, Bill Cosby bought a Shelby Cobra Super Snake CSX 3303 from his friend, company founder Carroll Shelby. The CSX 3303 was one of two Super Snakes built, which is a modified 1965 Cobra Competition roadster retained by Shelby American as a PR car and then modified with the addition of two superchargers and a Ford C-6 automatic gearbox.[2] Of the two cars built, one was retained by Shelby and the other was sold to Cosby. The album title, 200 M.P.H., refers to the car's top speed, which unnerved Cosby so much that he only drove it once before returning it. Shelby American sold it to S and C Motors in San Francisco, who then sold it to their customer, Tony Maxey. Maxey destroyed the CSX 3303 by driving over a cliff and into the Pacific Ocean. Maxey himself died a few days later. Brian Angliss purchased the vehicle and subsequently restored it. He plans to auction the car off.[2]

While the majority of Cosby's Warner Bros. standup albums were regularly re-released on LP, and eventually issued on CD in April 1998, 200 M.P.H. was not reissued on vinyl (although it was available on cassette in the '80s), and did not see a CD release until 2005, mainly due to controversy over the main sketch's punchline, where Cosby returns the car and suggests that it be given to former Alabama governor and pro-segregationist George Wallace, who was running for President as a third party candidate at the time. In a recent late-night talk show appearance, Cosby briefly re-told this story and said that he had heard that Jimmy Webb (of "MacArthur Park" fame) eventually ended up with his Cobra.

That's how they did aero in the early '90s. Graft a Shelby Charger nose onto it and some S10 headlights, and you were ready to rock.

I read somewhere that the fighters were down to 130-140 mph ground speed which is just above their stall speed.

Also notice that the jets were both straight-wing, not swept-wing, with a fairly large wings.

So he's not flying around at Mach 1.5 like Tony Stark, sure, but soaring around at 130+ mph with something that straps to your back is still pretty badass.

The kids are doing it wrong. google "sherry enema", you'll find some news articles. Alcoholics have been doing this for ages. Or, let me do it for you

Do you really want to know about The Enema Within?

(21 May 2004, Texas) Michael was an alcoholic. And not an ordinary alcoholic, but an alcoholic who liked to take his liquor, well, rectally. His wife said he was "addicted to enemas" and often used alcohol in this manner. The result was the same: inebriation.

The machine shop owner couldn't imbibe alcohol by mouth due to a painful throat ailment, so he elected to receive his favourite beverage via enema. And tonight, Michael was in for one hell of a party. Two 1.5 litre bottles of sherry, more than 100 fluid ounces, right up the old address!

When the rest of us have had enough, we either stop drinking or pass out. When Michael had had enough (and subsequently passed out) the alcohol remaining in his rectal cavity continued to be absorbed. The next morning, Michael was dead.

The 58-year-old did a pretty good job of embalming himself. According to toxicology reports, his blood alcohol level was 0.47%.

In order to qualify for a Darwin Award, a person must remove himself from the gene pool via an "astounding misapplication of judgment." Three litres of sherry up the butt can only be described as astounding. Unsurprisingly, his neighbors said they were surprised to learn of the incident.

Colon absorbs alcohol extremely fast, so it's fairly easy to get lethal alcohol poisoning if you, uh, don't don't limit the flow.

I went to an airshow several years back and one of their features was a McDonnell Douglas F/A-18 Hornet and some stunts / tricks they can do. One pass they flew by the stands 100 feet off the deck at Mach .98 and you could see the vapor cone start to form around the midsection. My favorite maneuver they performed was during their takeoff. Gained just enough speed for flight, retracted the gear and went into a full thrust vertical climb with afterburner blasting which had to be the loudest thing I've ever seen.

Last thing they did before landing was showing how versatile the jet is with airspeed the pilot flew by with the nose pitched up about 30 degrees while maintaining altitude as the announcer stated his airspeed was 75 miles per hour. Sounded like he was at the upper end of the engine's power range while he did it. Looked just like this, actually:

Here's another video with a low speed pass and a high speed pass, action starts at 20 seconds:

I wanted so bad for them to break the sound barrier and was very disappointed when they didn't. The whole theory that sonic booms will blow out windows for hundreds of miles is complete bullshit, which makes me even sadder they didn't do it.
