Joe, the bottom half is clearly double exposed as far as I can see, as well.

 

'Twas actually a composite of three images (top, middle, bottom), as the panorama feature on my phone, rather annoyingly, functions only from side to side, not up-and-down.

So most of the middle area is an overlap zone. I put the three images on separate layers and did a gradient mask to blend the edges where they overlap, resulting in the sort of intermittent ghosting across the two bands in the middle.

Couldn't come up with a better way of doing it easily.

 

 

Your phone probably has more than 5 megapixels of sensor. Take a few steps backwards and take the photo again. Crop out the excess.

 

The emergency door release panel is inside the lavatory of the train. The lav is not significantly larger than that aboard a commercial airliner, and my back was against the wall while taking that photo. No way to get any further back short of folding space.
