Who knew that failed brakes would lock up the tires, then straighten out the car after the impact with the Mazda in front of it.

*The official line was brake failure, the "real" story is apparently a throttle stuck/jammed wide open.

I'm working on an "email blast" for the Style Guide Improvement Team (SGIT) at work. As I was looking for something to liven up a fairly dry topic, I ran across this funny grammar joke that's not really appropriate to send out in email in a multi-billion dollar company.

A report filed by Jim Brown, driver of the van, indicates he and two other people were taking the van to an airport employee barbecue. The Springfield News-Leader obtained the report through a Sunshine Law request.

"I decided that due to the time limitations we would cross the runway in order to make it in time," Brown wrote in his report.

 

BBQ that's worth dying for.

 

Ehh, he said ATC had cleared him to cross the runway. I doubt he would have gone if he'd known it was that close. I mean, a company bbq is never that good (It's in the rule book somewhere).

Can't speak for whatever airport he works at, but where I am its forbidden to cross any of the runways. As in, you cross the red lines, you find somewhere else to work.
Might be different for a smaller airport though, looks like its only a two runway gig with very spread out services.

 

Where's homeland insecurity when you need them? Probably confiscating fingernail clippers.
