****.

This thread made me all weepy and nostalgic, so I started googling.

Turns out there are still several BBSes online (accessible via Telnet) which host TradeWars2002.

There goes the rest of my free time for the next year...

Vroom Vroom.. Er.. Zoom Zoom..

Just me or does the back of that kinda resemble a 911 now? Wish I could find a few videos of it ripping around a track.. Kinda digging the sound...

WOW! That ************ is BAD ***! Not like most sort of boring GTR's, if you can call any of them that really. Sexy lines, and super sexy sounds.

All the videos I can find of that one are just extreme cocktease. :(

I guess its built on a 4 liter lexus V8 platform, which I'm seeing several more of those now.. Supposedly ~1200hp..

I wonder if it's actually the 4.3 V8, since I think those are SC430 headlights. At least they have a very similar shape, and it would make sense that maybe he had a donor car for all of that stuff.

I'm with you 100% on those headlights without a doubt. Can't find any build specs or other information on the car either so now I'm very curious what hes hiding..

After finding a few twin-turbo SC430s online it sounds like a pretty legit method..

(Not the same car.. just too sexy not to post)

I've always like the SC430 and now they are affordable but I wouldn't want to imagine the maintenance costs on that retractable hardtop. Has anyone seen what an ordeal it is to get a 3000GT Spyder's top serviced?

Resist the urge. It is not 1995 and you will not enjoy the game. It will ruin your fond memories and you will be a grumpy old man like me. I rediscovered telnet BBSes 8 years ago and the magic is definitely gone.

If you want to relive some stuff (well, at least it was reliving from my perspective as a sysop) watch this:

Warning - it is 5.5 hrs long....

Of course it does. That design could never work in real life. It's just cool as hell to see someone build something I drooled over constantly when I was a geeky kid.

So what you're saying is that it's basically the same as every other high-dollar custom chopper coming out of the specialty bike shops that we see on TV these days.

It's still pretty.

Now, would someone please build a Recognizer?
