You'll get over it brah. Best advice I can give is don't go into college with that attitude. You'll end up with a lot of time/money spent and nothing to show for it because you'll drop out. For now, enjoy your total absence of responsibility and abundance of free time. And since misery loves company, go find yourself some sad emo chick and have some good ol drunk sex a few days of the week.

jayc72 11-03-2010 12:43 AM

What a shocking post from someone who is 17.

Your brain is still growing, don't take everything so seriously and enjoy life. You'll have plenty of time to hate life later and actually have justification for it.

Make no serious decisions about your future for a couple of years. Go get a whole pile of shitty jobs after high school, that will motivate you to get your shit together.

Oh ya, get some vag and moar boost.

SKMetalworks 11-03-2010 01:14 AM

The real question is why are you taking AP classes if you don't give a shit? Get some caffine, drink it, and do you fucking homework. I wish i did way better in high school because i dont want to be welding when im in my 50's. Instead i had to pay for my own school when the school would of if i had my shit together. Anyway, I have my AAS in welding and want to run a shop, however i need to go back to school and get some business classes. Most of the classes i took to finish my AAS all were 10x better than any high school class because it taught me so many invaluable skills that i otherwise would of never had.

I sometimes feel that way but some old timers i work with put shit in perspective. This one fella retired 3 months ago. Before he left, we talked about what i want in life. I want to retire in a forest with my own pond stocked full of fish with my future loving wife by my side. This is what i exist for, this is why i get up a 4am every day and get my ass to work. When i feel like you do i realize that its easier than shit to kill yourself, but i haven't done everything i want in life so i snap out of it and continue to make my life better and enrich people around me.

Your young, buck up and plan what you want out of life, what are your interests that you could do for work, and for god sakes fuck as many women as possible.

Bond 11-03-2010 02:03 AM

I miss high school, you should enjoy it while it last. Find a girl who wants to smash daily, that's all you really need. Oh ya, get drunk as much as possible and do fun shit.

This thread needs more ass....

with that being said OP you need to get laid, I think that will solve a lot of your problems...Jay-Z's song seems to fit you perfect "I got 99 problems, but a bitch ain't one"

thirdgen 11-03-2010 02:42 AM

Here's how I would handle your independent, but perhaps misdirected life. The first thing I would do is find some Xanax and then crush 2 pills into powder. After drinking 375 mL of wild turkey 101, snort the crushed Xanax like it was a 20 bag of coke. Now go do your homework, after the assignment is completed, get some sleep. The next morning you will have no memory of the previous evening. The fear and questioning will trigger slight adrenaline and you will gain motivation. Then your skirt will blow off exposing your ball sack, which also motivates you cause you'll be like, "hey yo! I do have a set of nuts!" then you'll continue pushing to accel towards whatever path your life is on.

dstn2bdoa 11-03-2010 03:06 AM

It's good that you try to make your own way, and not rely on your parents money. Remember that chick on youtube that threw a fit because her parents got her the wrong colored car for her birthday? Yeah, well it's cool that your not like that.

Like the guys have said, your young, don't get all twisted up about it. You'll find your "thing", and when you do, you'll be as motivated as hell. Have you done a track day yet? Subscribe to iracing, practice the shit out of you local track. Prep your car, and head out ready to dominate. When you realize how much you suck, we all do at first right? Then you might have something that will motivate you, learn to drive. Learn car set up, and aerodynamics. There is no end to the shit you could lean.

If that don't work, go do a "ride out" with you local fire or police dept. They are easy to sign up for, just show up and schedule a ride out. Chose a busy area, you may find you like the rush. It's rewarding, exciting, and takes knowledge/skill and dedication to make it a career.

Hey man, dont feel like your the only one that feels that way. Im sortof in the same boat.

I am very content with being at home by myself, spend time alone in comfort, work on my car in solitude. I only have one close friend and we dont ever see each other all that often mainly due to scedualing conflicts. He is the one person i can count on to help me when i need it and has done alot for me. I know you say that you dont like people but i encourage you to try and make some friends ( Oh and the saying, you are who you hang out with holds true. Generally, if you hang out with shity people you will be a shitty person. If you hang out with sucessful people you will be sucessful.)

Im, 5 years older than you so the age difference is not all that huge and there is alot of thing I wish I could have done differntly at 17. For one, I wish i could go back and choose to not sleep with as many women as I did. The reason i say that is because I would much rather sleep with one woman many time than sleep with many women a couple times. The shit that i have done like that affects future relationships and did nothing for me emotionally but make things worse knowing how many girls i hurt. Most wemon dont want a man that has slept with more than one can count on their hands. I do think you should find a woman get close to that person and bang her fuckin brains out. Just dont start out on the wrong foot and bang a bunch of bitces. Choose wisely. lol

You have alot to look forward to man even though to you the future doesnt seem to bright. Lifes a garden, dig it!

You mentioned reading the thread that i made a while back. Im glad that you say it makes you feel better about your situation. Im still haveing problems and still have a seious lack of motivation, but things seriously do get better with time. Slowly but surely things are getting brighter for me so dont for one second feel like things only get worse. Only you can determine your own happieness. You just gotta kick yourself in the ass and make yourself get up and accomplish things.

thirdgen 11-03-2010 03:39 AM

I had a similar problem and I went to see "Naked Dave". He said, "you try breakin bottles behind Wa-Wa?" I'm like, "what the fuck is that gonna do?" Then he tells me to dig some holes, burn some wood. I asked him how far I should dig? What do I while the wood is burning? It just didn't make sense to me. He said, "you gotta look at life...it's all about freedom...you ever felt a cold breeze blow against your cock and balls? Now that's freedom."

turotufas 11-03-2010 04:21 AM

You on any medication man?

pusha 11-03-2010 06:14 AM

feels good bro

But seriously, I used to feel the same way and I can only tell you what worked for me.

Go to college, join a good fraternity, smash hoes, become involved on campus, smash hoes, go on road trips, smash hoes, get your stomach pumped after getting a little too loose during homecoming week, smash hoes a couple days later, epic spring break adventures, smash hoes, study abroad, smash hoes. Do you see a trend here?

We should be friends rider

fooger03 11-03-2010 08:19 AM

OP,
I'm 9 years your senior, god that sounds awful to me, I'm an old man now!

First off, it sounds like you have a classic case of "I don't know what I wanna be when I grow up".....don't panic, because I don't know what I want to be when I grow up either.

Sounds like you are severely lacking in the personal motivation department. What motivations to do you have to succeed? None? What do you strive to accomplish by the end of your high school career? Will you be waiting tables at a restaurant? At your current rate, it sounds like you may be.

Why don't we set some goals so we have something to be motivated toward?

Rider, there are two personal assessments that I want you to take:
"Strong Interest Inventory"
"Myers-Briggs Type Indicator"

Ask your guidance counselor at school about them. These will help you to set long term life goals. They can't set them for you, but they'll help you figure out which goals to set. If your guidance counselor can't hook you up, you'll probably have to pay for the assessments, but the $40 or so that it may cost you is only pennies compared to what these can do for you. Don't shun your parent's money either if they want to pay for this. Your parents probably worked pretty hard their whole life for the sole purpose of making a better life for YOU. If your parents try to give you something, it's because intrinsically it makes them feel really good about themselves.

The Strong Interest Inventory will indicate to you the career fields that your personality can succeed at. It will tell you "what careers will I enjoy?"

The meyers-briggs type indicator will give you an image of how your personality is laid out that you can use to determine the career fields that you will excell at. It will tell you "what careers will I be good at?"

Take both of these assessments, cross them with each other, and find the career fields (if any) that both assessments point you to.

Remember, if you don't know where you are headed, any path will take you there. Maybe they will tell you to wait tables at applebees for the rest of your life, maybe they'll tell you to be a neurosurgeon, maybe, maybe, maybe, but you'll never know if you don't try.

Rider, don't discount the Military. I feel like it was the best decision I ever made. It will teach you responsibility, accountability, pride, work ethic, motivation, etc., etc. It's also easier to pick a career path in the military when they put a relatively short list of every conceivable option in front of you.

My gf had no idea what she wanted to do with her life until I told her to take these assessments a few weeks back - she had no idea what classes to take, didn't really want to go to college, but did so at the urging of her parents, etc., etc. Both of the assessments pointed her toward the medical field. Now she is seriously looking into nursing and she gets crazy excited talking about it. She's also researching other medical fields because she's excited about doing it, not because she thinks she has to. She didn't know diddly squat about the medical field just a couple weeks ago.

qft

Rider...just keep moving.

Here is my personal favorite "self help" quote for this year:

If we don't change, we don't grow. If we don't grow, we aren't really living.
~ Gail Sheehy

Continue to make changes in your life. They won't always be the right direction...but you learn from them...and most importantly you continue to grow from either those hard-learned lessons, or the success you meet by making the right decisions.

I've run into more than a few people recently that feel the way you do...some young...some old. I think a lot of it has to do with the times as I started feeling this way when the economy was going south and the political landscape looked like a field of cow patties. Two years out things still suck...but I sure as hell know what I'm doing today, and where I'm trying to go tomorrow.

Challenge yourself by making hard decisions which you know will require real effort to make work. Don't regret having done so or get depressed when you fail. Simply note what you did wrong and move on....to something else.

Just keep moving, keep making changes, and you'll keep growing. You will NEVER be content with life if you don't continue to grow as a person. You are however very likely to end up somewhere you really like by never giving up on that personal growth....ever.

Reverant 11-03-2010 09:19 AM

I'll miss the sea, but a person needs new experiences. They jar something deep inside, allowing him to grow. Without change something sleeps inside us, and seldom awakens.

Epic scifi novels are in fact, epic.
