MX-5 Miata Forum - I have 2k and need a motor!
Why are people so stupid? This thread makes my head hurt.

That *may* actually be a sketchball douchebag that my buddy almost bought a Miata from. Well, not really "almost." We went up to Reading to look for this "rust and accident free" Miata. It was at this sketchy dude's place, under a carport thing, with about a million hacked up wiring harnesses scattered around it. EVERY F'N panel was dented. The passenger door was swapped (the jamb was white, which prompted us to check the VIN stickers, which didn't match), and one of the rear fenders was constructed almost entirely out of bondo. And all four tires were dryrotted. And didn't match. Oh yeah, the guy wanted $2500. And it was snowing.
We figured it had been run into at least one guardrail. Hillclimb may explain that.
Anyway, it's not a .net thing, it's a "big car forum" thing. When you have a specific, narrow forum like this one where a high level of technical knowledge is expected, it's one thing. But when it's a big, general forum that has everybody from beginners to pros, some dumbassery is to be expected. I mean, none of us fell out of our mother's vaginas already instilled with a wide array of automotive knowledge, we all had to start somewhere/sometime.

"the bottom ends on the 1.6s just dont hold up to any type of abuse."
"i think i decided to get a KLZE...
its kinda iffy but they are reliable, japanese design, and still a mazda product.
all thats needed is a RWD tranny... a torsen diff, maybe stronger axles, and better internals for the engine...
but i'm no mazda expert so i still am gonna need some advice and also i need to find out if there is any issues with this engine choice."
"Umm... I guess you didn't notice the "DOHC" stamped on the engine, or the distinctive shape of the valve cover. Miatas have dual overhead cams. No rods. Which means there is no way you could get rod knock."
Head hurts now, going to bed.
