If so; did you enjoy last night's FUJI F1 race as much as I did? Were you not pleasantly surprised with how entertaining it was? I even watched live!

Since I'm a die hard fan, I'm going to keep this thread open to contribute info of different races.

An incredible race, no doubt. I can not believe that Ferrari, having all the tools to win, screws up again. They need to kick out their Italian managers and get some organized Germans in charge instead. Poor Masa… again.

Btw, did you see the top gear episode when Hamilton drove the reasonable priced car? Very impressive.

I NEED MOAR F1! I've never been to an event, but I've watched on TV and I'm dying for the chance to see it in person some day.

 

lol. The last time I went to one personally was in 1967 (I was only 14 then )! Even back then the noise was insane.

 

I used to be a big fan, went to the 2004 USGP, but after the 2005 indy race I stopped paying much attention. I still read up on the tech.

Did anyone else read that there is no Canadian Grand Prix next year?

I read there was a website started to try to pressure F1 to reinstall it but I'm sure nothing will come off that. I'm sorry because it was a pretty good venue.

I hate the politics of F1 but I love races like the last one. I couldn't stop watching it!

I'm looking forward to next year with the new regulations. Great to see they're bringing slicks back and they're going to drastically curtail aerodynamic devices. If I'm not mistaken is going to be very entertaining.

 

I have it on DVD but I guess that won't do you any good. I'll ask my son if he knows where to get the bid torrent and get back to you.

 

Yup, great race yesterday. Can't wait for next year.

If you haven't seen F1 in person, you owe it to yourself to make it happen at least once in your lifetime, it's worth it! Last time I saw modern F1 cars run it was in the V10 era... curse you Michelin!!!!!

The final schedule for next year is up on formula1.com. Anybody see the penalties posted after the race? they helped out Massa, the points difference from hamilton to massa is now only 5!

I think Hamiltons a great guy, but I don't like him cause he's not driving a ferrari. 1st corner of the 1st lap my buddy and I were like "what the **** ferrari!" but then in the chicane where massa took out hamilton we were like "yes yes yes!" like I said, if you're not driving a ferrari, you get no love from me. (in terms of f1)

 

So... With this discussion, a thought comes to mind. Along with sounds of ultra-high revving motors and visions of Miata's streaking past, scented of well-brewed race fuel. I'm talkin unavoidable, unwarranted and unnecessary pre-pubescent engine screams, from underneath the hoods of docile looking roadsters.

I lived in Milan during 2004 and went to the F1 race at Monza. The experience was great, from a racing and motor interest point of view, but if it really hard to actually follow the race. Equally cool was visiting the track the day before the race. Before qualifying started, you got to walk around in the pit area, looking at the cars and the equipment (and the grid girls…). You only then start to really understand the amounts of money involved. There is no way that amount of money can exist without politics involved.

I read that the slicks are coming back 2009 and that it will be permitted to add an energy saving system, extracting energy during braking to be used to power the car. I love that. People just do not understand how much of modern technology used in cars today they have F1 to thank for. And now, they make an existing technology allowed in the races and thereby making sure lots and lots of development money will be put into to. Brilliant.

 

yeah, KERS, Kenetic Energy Recycling I think. Some teams are having troubles with the system, apparently how they store the energy is fairly dangerous, and I think it was BMW that had a 'battery' explode on them.

Monza's probably my favorite track, I'm incredibly jealous that Torkel saw it in person. Thats one of the reasons I'm pissed about the US and now Canadian GP leaving, now there aren't any races in North America. Along with those talks about bringing the Canadian GP back, there are also talks about bring the US GP back to Indiana, as well as Leguna Seca. An article was posted on Fomula1.com many months ago about it. Personally I'd love to see a modern F1 field go through the cork screw.
