I think the CTS-V wagon will become a classic. Design is something personal, and so many people need to see something 1000 times before they like it, and then it is the best.
I think the McLaren F1 is a good example. It is not really an attractive car (that engine bay though...), but people have come to espouse it as a great looking car.

Apparently Audi went to some great lengths on that. Fairly insane/typical Euro stuff like timing chain on the firewall/transmission side of the engine, changes to how TQ gets delivered, etc. The talking heads all agreed that it was a major improvement. I think Audi understands it needs to have some perception of real sportiness to keep eroding MB and BMW market share.
Taurus SHO: Drove it. Bad/decent interior that's poorly utilized (huge thing between the front two seats, why?), uninspiring dynamics, very very FWD biased AWD. Plow city. Automatic.
SS/G8: Eh interior, finding a manual GXP is akin to a unicorn so I haven't driven one.
CTS-V: Very, very interesting. A manual wagon would be about everything I want in a car. Was pushed away due to the normal CTS I checked out, but it would only be right to give this a drive. Thanks!
Doesn't the SS have a completely different interior than the GXP. Since they are only shipping over fully loaded models all of the pictures I have seen have had very nice interiors with soft leather everywhere. I will admit I have never seen one in person so maybe it is underwhelming in real life.
Either the CTS-V Wagon, the C63, or (since this is a "company car") see if you can find someone (a fleet sales place) who will sell you a Caprice PPV. It's a G8 with a better transmission controller, heavier duty parts, and a FlexFuel V8.
Or you can try to find that G8 GXP hen's tooth. This comments about the autobahn in this thread remind me of this:

Rx8 is sitting in the driveway (roomate's car I steered him towards).
Great, wonderful car. Beautiful transmission. Roomy rear seat. Good for daily driving. Less so for cross country though. Just drove it, and will again tonight. What a compelling vehicle.

Top Gear was really impressed with the RX8. I haven't been able to drive one, but I've been in love with rotary engines since I was a teen. It put the same time on their course as the BMW M3, and IIRC, they all said they'd rather have the RX8 than the M3.

It's been years since I drove an RX-8 but I was very, very disappointed. Yes it has great steering feel and is very tight, but there's no torque, and it really doesn't pull all that hard on the top end either.
I'd take an S2k over an RX-8 at any moment. Course... S2k's are more expensive. I'd sooner pay more for an S2k than an RX-8 at any moment
So the answer to the thread is: VX8
Honestly that's the answer to a lot of questions.
Edit: I want to see some Masochist swap a 13B into a Camaro.
Edit: Hell, 2 of them end to end so it's sort of like a 4 cylinder.

Pretty sure this was figured out three years ago...
