Anybody interested in a rx7 tii tranny adapter plate ?

If someone is interested in an adapter plate please inform me because I'm going to copy mine in a few days at a machine shop. The material will be either aluminum or ss.

JayL 10-08-2009 11:58 AM

Yes, I'm very interested.

Faeflora 10-08-2009 01:07 PM

Yes, me!

All that's needed to make this transmission and plate work with our stock diff is a custom driveshaft right? Do we need a custom clutch as well?

I'm nearly 100% positive that the input shaft has the same # of splines and is the same size.

Subscribed. Curious about cost and what else is needed to make this work.

gianic 10-08-2009 04:38 PM

Hello, I dont know the cost yet. Its obvious that if we are many I can get a pretty decent price from the machine shop. I would like to know the interest for start.

For the full conversion you are going to need, a modified miata clutch with rx7 splines, a modified stock miata driveshaft and a custom transmission mount.

So until now we have

Any update on this? On a side note, is the bolt pattern the same on the T2 as a Miata?

I don't know for sure if it's the same.

Anyway, the first plate is ready and succesfully fitted in my miata.
The whole conversion isnt ready yet so you'll have to wait for testing it a little more to ensure that the fitment is perfect.

The problem we are solving right now is the custom mount.
The beautiful with this conversion is that the rx7 tranny will be mounted in the same mounts that stock miata tranny is mounted. No welding at the frame will be needed and the mounting will be steady as stock.

If the bolt pattern is the same, has anyone tired just shortening the input shaft by half inch instead of using the spacer/adapter plate? This would also bring the shifter closer to the stock Miata location. As for the mounting of the transmission, it's pretty easy to adapt the cross bracket that is used in the rx7 and completely eliminating the miata ppf.

subscribed cause depending on cost this could be full of win.

Ok, I didn't understand you fully in your previous question..
The bolt pattern is NOT the same. It is totally different.

How was the piece made?

Also did you figure out the transmission mount?

The material we finally decided to use was iron. The main reason was to keep the material cost low.

Yes we figure out the mount too. We will use the same bolts that stock tranny uses at the same position.
I will upload a pic later.

therieldeal 11-07-2009 05:34 PM

NA6C-Guy 11-07-2009 05:45 PM
