Anyone else have bad allergies?

So I'm allergic to plant sperm and enjoy taking really long walks on the beach It's been consistently over 20°C degrees here in Quebec and much to my dismay, allergy season has begun. Past 4 days have been bloody hell and was wondering if anyone else has bad allergies. What antihistamine do you use to get by?. Claritin's extra strength crap doesn't seem to help much.

airbrush1 04-08-2010 07:03 PM

I am allergic to everything except dogs..... I got allergy shots when i was in high school and they have made a huge difference in my quality of life...

hackingjack 04-08-2010 07:07 PM

I'll have to look into that, thank you. It seems like as the years go by, they just get worse.

pdexta 04-08-2010 07:22 PM

Definitely look into Zyrtec (or the generic Alertec). Claritin never really did anything for me but Zyrtec has worked miracles.

I've never heard of either of them, oddly enough. I'll see if my local pharmacy keeps them in stock and try them out if they do, thank you.

I HATE SPRING!

For the past 3 weeks now I've had 2 sinus infections, and woken up every night at 3am sneezing.

I bought a Neti Pot 2 days ago, used it thrice so far. Today is the best day I've had in almost a month.

Afrin Pump Mist is the shit and it fucks tons of bitches. I've had 2 or 3 sinus infections in the last year, and that is the only shit that allows me to continue to function as a human.

As do I, it's supposed to cool down in the next few days so there is some relief in sight. I'm not looking forward to when it will be consistently over 10°C. Glad to hear you're feeling better though.

Pollen count here is 5K+ ppm. It was well over 7k last spring. We did just get a nice downpour...but the clear air will only last for a few hours before everything has a yellow haze to it.....again. Fuck this shit....2-3 more weeks of it too :(

WonTon 04-08-2010 08:00 PM

Dayum! the weather channel we have here is too ghetto to provide us an accurate PPM reading and instead they give us a scale of 0-10 on how much we're fucked for the day :vash:

WonTon 04-08-2010 08:14 PM

hahaha, that sucks!

FRT_Fun 04-08-2010 08:35 PM

Mach929 04-08-2010 08:39 PM

Reverend Greg 04-08-2010 09:28 PM

Those are allergy symptoms. The same ones my youngest son gets when he's down here. We've never tested him so we don't know for sure what his allergies are for sure. Ask your wife to try to go 1 month without eating shellfish and you'll see the sneezing go away.

My oldest son (now 31) got tested and spent about 3 years with weekly shots. He's much better now but allergies never go away completely.

FWIW; I read somewhere that pollen count is supposed to be very high this summer so I feel your pain.

MartinezA92 04-08-2010 10:45 PM

Hah....I work at a tire shop part time, shit KILLS me in the summer.
Tire dust/brake dust/tons of fucking trees in the parking lot.
I r not plsed

airbrush1 04-08-2010 10:59 PM

I'm actually allergic to cockroaches..... weirdest allergy ever imho! I was told that they die in the air vents of public buildings, and when they decompose, the dust created blows through the vents and screws up my nose!

That's interesting.

I had a lot of food and environmental allergies as a kid, and after years of allergy shots, that's pretty much not an issue for me anymore.

I am still amazingly allergic to cats, dogs, etc. Basically, if I were to spend 5 minutes rolling around with a dog licking me and such, I'd wind up either in the ER or the morgue.

Claritin-D has really worked miracles for me in this department. I still get a bit of a reaction on the skin if certain breeds lick / drool on me (Boston Terriers seem particularly bad here) and I need to be careful not to touch my eyes after handling a cat or a dog, but I can quite literally lie on the floor for an hour with two Chihuahuas jumping all over me, licking me, sitting on my face and neck, etc., and have basically no adverse reaction at all.

Next time I'm back home in FL, I may try this Zyrtec of which you speak, and see if I fare any better around the Terriers with it. If I wind up dead, I'm going to haunt the shit out of you.

There's pollen everywhere hear in Gainesville. I walk out every morning to a putting green, thankfully I have no allergies.
