Default Anyone here know how this old school BOV sounds?

I have an old HKS sequential bov (not super sequential) and have never heard it. I'd guess it sounds like the newer HKS bov, but that's a wild guess. It came from a DRAG turbo kit for a Honda. Thanks.

Ok, I should have phrased it as "Does it sound similar or the same as the newer HKS BOV"?

I thought my SSQV sounded good on my RX7 until I realised it actually sounded like ****, and everyone was staring at me. So I hope it doesn't sound like the newer HKS.

The newer HKS SSQV does not "whoosh" FWIW. So I would say maybe this sounds comparable to a Greddy BOV?

The HKS SSQV is loud sure, but it depends on how you drive it. I DD my miata (well I did) and had that BOV for years. I would only draw attention if I wanted to, or was heavy on/off boost.

I say try it and if you dont like it....change to something else.

Seriously, I don't understand why you gays spend all this money on different blow off valves and **** with such painfully limitted success or even moderately-decent functionality when everyone on earth with a Bosch BOV has perfect functionality and a non-ricer sound.

+1 on bypass valves. BOVs are gay because they serve no purpose.

I am going to use the Subaru bypass valve soon. It shifts a huge amount of air compared to the bosch and does it in less time.

blow off valve...

blowing your load...

see anything in common here?

Go bypass. It gives you enough noise if you're looking for it, not too much if you aren't, and works.

I prefer snappin' necks and making people jump with my RFL

Eric (Rotornut) and I went to a runway late at night and I let him take my car wheil I stood about 3/4 the way down the runway...from 4000ft away I could hear the BOV before anything else..but then again, it was like 2am and there was no background noise.

I also have a Greddy RS that sounds very nice..not too loud and a nice deep tone.

I love the sound of my bosch. I just wish I had it recircing, its too loud for me when it's venting 8psi. Its aimed down so I can hear the air it vents hit the ground. Sounds like air brakes on a truck.

My only issue is that i've read they dont hold past 12psi very well? Maybe thats just my all plastic bosch that has that problem.

Edit: how much quieter are you VTA guys using filters on your bov? I may just try this as it would be easier than fabbing up the recirc piping.

I got this BOV about 11 years ago in college and never used it and was curious. I have a Bosch already. That's why.
