It pleases me that they've decided to close out the series properly and air the packages which had already been produced, albeit with a Clarkson-less studio presence.

This was the right thing to do.

Chris Evans is a radio presenter, huge Ferrari fan, and has been on the show quite a few times.

Chris Evans was actually on Top Gear in series 18

James drives the Ferrari 250 California (Series 18, Episode 7) - BBC Top Gear

He's a hugely successful TV presenter too, was quite ahead of him time in the 90's. I'm not sure if he still is.

I think he'll be good, he's had very few failures.

Clarkson, Hammond And May Will Host New Car Show On Netflix | The LAD Bible

Being that its Netflix, they won't have to sensor themselves based on the network not wanting to hurt advertisers feelings and thus loss of ad revenue.

That might actually work.

This is true.

I can't help but wonder if we'll lose the incredible cinematic production values which set their program apart from damn near everything else on TV, something possible only with a BBC-sized budget. Will Netflix be able to afford to send the trio on an insane romp across the whole Asian continent, attended by considerable support staff and crew? Will the loss of that sort of thing leave a hole in the show?

Netflix's revenue for FY 2014 was $5.5B. I'm sure they'll be able to figure something out.

I hope they can keep the global spread of the show. The coolest part about top gear to me is that it was the most watched television show in the world. People watch it everywhere. Netflix has had issues showing stuff in other countries, maybe it will be different if they are producing it.
