Avatar fail (spoilers, kind of)

Fern Gully 2 was a very purty movie in 3D. That's all I have to say about that.
|
Wow thats scary
|
I'd still rather watch Avatar than Pocahontas, wouldn't you?
Plus, I don't recall seeing anything in the Pocahontas story about awesome mech suits, space travel, CF-reinforced skeletons, Taruq Maqto, or using brainwaves to drive a genetically-engineered hybrid body. |

Now that is awesome.

The movie was amazing visually.
It also showed me that Hollywood has not learned a thing since about 1967 politically speaking. I had a hard time deciding if I was more pissed by the rediculus portrayal of servicemen or by the 6th grade level political statements that insulted the intellegence on anyone with an IQ higher than room temperature......in celcius. "Oh wow. I had no idea that this was reflecting on the Iraq war. It was soooo subtle. But suddenly when they say 'shock and awe' and 'daisy cutter' I get it. How clever!" Give me a break. And I'm still floored that they seriously portrayed Marines as a bunch of happy baby killers in the grand old Vietnam-era style. So nice to see a bunch of clueless fat morons clapping at the end of the movie too. This is what hapens when a bunch of self-righteous entertainers attempt political statements. I'm one of the people who thinks that Iraq was a huge mistake and that movie pisses me off. |
Iraq still IS a huge mistake, we should nuke it and take care of the issue.

Ironicaly, Afghanistan is the single best object lesson there. We basically win in the 80s, then just up and leave with the place a complete power vacuum with no funding. It's not long before the drug lords fill it. Which was so damn aweful that by the time the Taliban really gets rolling people dont give a crap if they have a brutal justice system or anything else as long as they keep the violence down on a local level. And here we are 20 years later occupying large chuncks of it. Long story short, rebuild it or we have to go back later. The world wars are a pretty good example too. Its not fair, its just reality. Sucks. |
if iraq didn't exist, there would be no issue....get it?

If you haven't given it a chance, GTFO of this thread and see the movie before you judge it. :noob: |
I'm going to do something that I have never done in my 42 years. I'm going to see a movie twice in the theater. 3D this time.
