I saw Jimmys car in person. It is a stripped down, nothing in it, 2000lb car. It SOUNDS really sweet, but that is the end of it. You will have the IRTB fanbois, like panda trueno who, based on his signature has everything from fuji, jumping up and down trying to convince that IRTB's are the shizznet. For throttle response they are great, for power, whatever.

Braineack 09-19-2007 10:00 AM

i wanna build a head on a stock 1.6L and rev it to 9000RPM and show everyone it doesn't take much. just need 100rwtq.

PAT! 09-19-2007 10:12 AM

I know the shop in question... lets just say I take anything from there with a Syberian sized grain of salt.

firedog25 09-19-2007 10:19 AM

What a noob. No fucking shit buddy. Why do you think turbo feels better at altitude compared to naturally aspirated? DURRRRR.... Uhhhh thinner air.. less oxygen content... MMEEEEOOOOOOOOOO.

originally posted on M.net by Will Work For Speed

I've always seen FI cars take better to hotter or high altitude climates. The N/A car is totally subjected to what the pressure of the atmosphere is at the time, so at a hot or high altitude climate, a N/A engine is gasping for air. A FI car is compressing the air it takes in, so the intake is not getting as much as air in a hot or high altitude climate, but it still getting way more air than a N/A car. I saw this with my N/A aspirated vette when I went to up play around with my buds up in Reno. My car felt totally different, seemed like I went from 435 hp to 350. My 1/4 time was the worst I had ever seen while my buds Evo was slightly slower, but not too much.

hustler 09-19-2007 10:40 AM

Because the 1.8s run TWO PCPros.

That's like an intercooled intercooler, right?
That explains it! Hey Ben, how many PC-Pro's were ya runnin when you pulled those NICE dyno numbers? You know you can also convert those from Japaneese horses over to amercan pony's right? Here's the conversion factor:
(Actual HP X Bullshit Factor)^#PC-Pro's

ok, I think I pretty much ensured this one will be closed.

firedog25 09-19-2007 12:19 PM

Please tell me this Black Jesus guy is one of you guys fucking around. I can't imagine someone being this fucking ignorant unintentionally.

That would be Hustler.

firedog25 09-19-2007 12:43 PM

Thank God! I was thinking that there was a chance that someone out there needs to be wearing a helmet outside of the motorsport experience.

What changed your opinion? Have you actually read some of his posts? :)

jayc72 09-19-2007 12:58 PM

Well fuck me. Gord and Ben actually agreeing on something. Where's that worm hole? I want to go back to my regular universe!

Braineack 09-19-2007 01:02 PM

I actually like Gord today

y8s 09-19-2007 01:08 PM

haha you can tell it's hustler from all the "what should I do? :robert:" threads he started.

so far the FM comment is still intact

so far Gord is on the side of the "gimme proof" side.

good lord.

Ben 09-19-2007 01:11 PM

Gord believes in engine management and charge cooling. :bigtu:
One down....

I thought for sure there was going to be some editing and locking going on.

Speaking of helmets, remember when Black Jesus told that guy he needed to wear one
I wonder if it will show up in a search

patsmx5 09-19-2007 02:20 PM

Ben, you've been the best entertainment all day. I WISH FFS would open that thread at m.net and start posting. 8 PC-PRO's... Beer Cooler... Mars...
Good read for sure.

hustler 09-19-2007 02:49 PM

oh god, the "running the car on earth / super cooled air" has me in tears.

And a mod even laughed at it...HOPE exists...

That personally was my favorite line.

Trent 09-19-2007 11:17 PM

A++++++ thread. would read again.

hustler 09-20-2007 11:35 AM

I managed to invoke "pc-pro" here too:
http://forum.miata.net/vb/showthread...24#post2705124

At this point, invoking pc-pro on m.net is pretty much my favorite passtime...but you have to be sublime to it doesn't get pruned. I highly recommend it.

Braineack 09-20-2007 03:13 PM

notice the OP?

Ben 09-20-2007 03:16 PM

jeezus,
I bet that was about push starting a miata w/ hotwired ignition

Newbsauce 09-20-2007 03:42 PM

Lol Ben's post about storing beer under the hood had me laughing out loud at work.

hustler 09-20-2007 04:14 PM

now these fags are talking about some fucking tube-framed GT3 circuit miata that runs on plutonium with cantilever suspension.

I mean, hell, NHRA pro-stock 50" v8's make 1200hp naturally aspirated, there is no reason your daily driven cadavalier won't cut 1.0 60' times to and from work.

Braineack 09-20-2007 04:17 PM

i enjoy picking up men in my miata.

poz or neg?

hustler 09-20-2007 04:54 PM

so now there's some ------ in an ITB automatic complaining to the mods that the turbo people are mean to the naturally aspirated crew.

ive always enjoyed the loss of low end torque on automatics, combined with the loss of low end torque with itrbs. mmmmm.

i contributed. i said the best way to make the power is increase the revs, because the longer you can hold out the revs the more hp youll make if the torque stays flat.

i also pointed out that dyno proof was crap.

i read the n/a forums a lot because anything i do to my engine, like for exmaple my headwork, only the the base for the turbo to work off of even better.

Imagine how much power you'd make with a FFS coldside with a stock ecm and PC-Pro, on an ITB 12:1 compression daily driven, tube-framed GT3 miata.

i was refering more to the fact IRTBs primary purpose is to increase throttle response. an automatic will destroy any gain in response the irtbs gain. not to mention it's a fucking automatic...

Braineack 09-20-2007 09:52 PM

im pretty sure the larger inlets lower low-end torque, not smart to do on an automatic. but hey, they are magical and increase HP substantial, best hp/$$ hands down.

hustler 09-21-2007 09:36 AM

lol, the guy spent $12,000 on a motor that yeilded lets say 40lb/ft over stock. Wow. How many people here spent $5000 and yeilded 150lb/ft. Fucking idiots.

Braineack 09-21-2007 09:46 AM

I need cams and a billet oil gear.

don't forget that you also need a bigger oil pump because for some reason oil pumps are HP sensitive, not rpm. :vash:

hahah, i remember that argument... it's amazing how many people in m.net just don't get it. I can understand if someone is ignorant, but maintaining the same point of view (which was based purely on ignorance to begin with) after being proven wrong in a number of ways is stupidity.

hustler 09-21-2007 03:58 PM

whoa, there's a blue miata/white hardtop racecar with "fuji racing" all over it, and ITB's. I wonder if this is the 175whp daily driver they speak of.

lol, speak of the devil.

on a side note, there are like 30 turbo miatas out here too. I feel like a total bitch.

hustler 09-23-2007 12:47 AM

So the 175whp car is gutted big time, like...less shit in the car and under weight in terms of spec miata. The guy was only cutting 1:32's at best, spec cars are running 1:31's. Too many variables to consider, but I wasn't all that impressed. Cool guy though. I still severly doubt 175whp on a 9.0:1 NA1.8 bottom end with a 99 head.

Braineack 09-23-2007 01:33 AM

and you didnt stir up shit in person?!

I wasn't totally rude. He claimed the dyno was not doctored, and that he didn't know why the 5252 cross didn't happen, and claimed he wasn't a good driver.

BTW, the car is nowhere remotely close to street able. It takes an act of congress to move the car from a stop, and pukes and farts below 4k rpm. Its like drag-race rotary motors...every one I've ever seen has "barely" run. He was a super nice guy, and still had a lot to do on the car, but he needs to find another dyno shop if he plans on selling any parts. It ran with the 200hp supercharged cars with full interior, and had mph speeds consistent with mp45 cars.

It sounds to me like the guy works very hard, and engineers many of his own parts which is good, but I hope he doesn't fuck up his company's future with a shitty dyno shop that hosed him...if that's how the story actually reads.

JustJake 09-23-2007 10:36 PM

Jimmy's an idiot. Go over to itbforum.com and ask those guys. Even other ITB people can't stand him...

A blowhard and BS artist.

Exhondaman 09-24-2007 09:59 PM

Amazing, he is STILL defending the dyno.

http://clubroadster.net/forum/viewto...89&no=1#141189

hustler 09-25-2007 08:47 AM

his 175whp gutted car was turning lap times 2 seconds faster than 120whp full-interior cars.

Braineack 09-25-2007 08:56 AM

I dont care what times he got, i dont care what he got in the 1/8 1/4 1/2 1/1....if he doesnt put that thing back on a dyno and upload the actual results of that session (not something the session beforehand) I'm not going to believe a word he says...about anything.

magnamx-5 09-25-2007 09:30 AM

Home made dyno charts FTW
