Default Body Shops Suck for Time Management

So last night the guy tells me to pick up the car at 8 am. They don't want the car there any longer than it needs to be.

So I arrive 8 am, the owner gets there, and he is telling me how great the car is. Open the roll up door, and there it sits on jack stands, covered in polish residue, and it is still taped up. He looks at me, and just says "guess it's not ready." WTF! So he tells me come back in two hours, it will be ready. So I call him 30 minutes prior to dead line. He tells me his guy is giving him a sob story and it won't be done till three pm. Again WTF! I expressed that I have the windshield installer showing up at 3:30, and he will be responsible for any issues.

So now I have to take another day off work, so I can finish putting the car back together. We won't mention they forgot to paint the head light doors, and they won't be ready till tomorrow.

This is why my *only* hard requirement when buying my '94 was "perfect paint"

My only suggestion is to find a bodyshop recommended by your local roadracers. Preferably one where the owner races or used to race himself.
There's a guy here in huntsville that does great work, and when he says its ready, it's sitting in the parking lot washed, waxed, and vacuumed. Came recommended by a racing buddy who had his frame rails pulled straight(er) by the guy.

I use him whenever I don't feel like erecting a plastic paint booth in the garage. Which is pretty much everytime.

Just pisses me off to no end. I didn't want the car till Friday, but he insisted that I pick it up this morning. They didn't want a finished car sitting there for a day out of fear it would get damaged.
