My roommate arrangement fell though, and I'm running out of cash. I now don't have so much cash left over after bills.
I have a 80k mile 99 motor from a wreck car. I'm thinking about only getting the bottom end done and not touching the head aside from a resurface, or doing nothing at all and just throwing the gt2860rs. If the motor were 9.0:1 instead of 9.5, this would be a no-brainer. This is primarily a track car btw.

Just throw the bitch in your car and be happy

I'm worried about 9.5:1 compression, 250whp, and track days. I have a gt2860rs...so i doubt I'll be able to turn the boost down much considering some people here are making 257whp at 9psi.
what about one of those thicker head gaskets that drop the compression by increasing size of combustion chamber? how much do they actually decrease it by?
find a low mileage 94-97 bottom and throw the 99 head on it.

I made one thread on a local board and aleady have 3 people in line.
I know 250whp is the ultimate limit for rings on a stock bottom end. What power would you be comfy putting down with long, hot 30 minute track sessions on the stock bottom end?

if you get a solid relaible tune you should have no worries in that hp range
if you can get the bottom end for cheap then you might as well build it up a bit (rods, rings, pistons, new seals, etc.) thats what im doing, but first im turboing the motor thats already in my car and then im building the other one...so its kinda like one project at a time, sort of
you know you have a good motor, it will take 250ish for a long while properly tuned, so go for that for now and once you are done start the engine build...good luck man
as far as all these rent comments are going, im paying almost 700 for a OK neighborhood 2 bedroom 5 minutes from the Uni.-as many bars and bitches as you want within a 10 mile radius....how you like me now, lol
