Really people, the cellphone pics are driving me up a wall. Are y'all that cheap that you can't afford a camera? Maybe you shouldn't be modding your car if you don't have the money to buy even a low end digital camera. :vash:

surprisingly, my 2MP camera phone takes pretty damn good pictures. it even has white balance. go sony ^^

Anyone want to buy a Nikon Coolpix 5700? 5mp, 8X (35-280mm) optical zoom. Takes very nice pictures.

I wouldn't say you shouldn't be modding a car if you don't have the money for a camera. I mean, I did a 302 swap in a t-bird without a digital camera. Some people would rather spend that money toward moding the car, or on other things. I have a 100 dollar Kodak digital camera and it works, nothing fancy, but it's nice to have. If I didn't have it and I had a camera phone I would use it, it's better than nothing. However, I wouldn't pay 100+ for a phone just so it would take a picture either. My phone cost 30 bucks new and it came with a charger. I see your point if your trying to show off your new paint job with pics of from your camera. I mean, like neo's camera vid of his motor sucked, but hey, it's better than nothing.

yeah modern camera phones rival or beat cheap digital cameras. Besides camera phone shots are usually help me quick now while my digital camera batteries are dead type situations

Damn, some real nice for cell phones pics here. Where are all these nice cell phones hiding when people are taking fuzzy, blurry, over/underexposed and generally crappy pictures of their cars?

You hack your camdriver? I have a w810i and can't decide which driver to use. i hear the supercam is a pain because you get all the adjustments like a regular camera.

my camera is at home. i usually use my cell phone as at my 350z. wouldnt want to leave it in a miata!

i never touched any of the settings besides playing with the given settings. The white auto-balance does it by itself. Its noticeable.

The sad thing is, some cel phone images are better quality than digital cameras from the late 90s, early 00s :(

not to mention you learned how to take a photo over the last 15 years. composition plays a huge role. and I guess so does post processing.

Cameras are a combination of the optics and the electronics. Cell phone cameras have been getting much better electronics over the past few years... much cheaper for them to put in better electronics for the camera, than to spend time developing good software for the phone.

But cell phone cameras are still limited by their size; you could give it a 20 megapixel resolution, and aside from a ton of noise because of limitations from the sensor, you wont get much benefit, other than seeing the scratches on the lens while the phone bounced around in your pocket/purse/glovebox.

If you're taking the occasional snapshot to prove to your friends you really did see something, etc., it's fine, but if you plan on sharing on a regular basis, your results are likely to improve significantly with a decent low-end digital camera. Read up on it, find something that suits your needs, don't be taken in by high megapixel ratings and low prices... decent electronics, decent optics.

But remember, even with the best camera, if you don't learn how to use it, we'll get a razor sharp view of your thumbprint, and a crappy view of the part.

Doubt you'll get a view of your thumbprint. Not many cameras can focus at 0"
