I love that Palin was hammered for not having "enough" experience yet this guy got a walk on the issue! We just elected a guy to the highest office in the world whose only qualifications are he's different, educated, likeable, talks purdy, runs a great campaign and wasn't republican.

Fuk.

I saw Nailin' Paylin, and she certainly did get hammered. But she looked plenty experienced to me.

sounds like a win to me...

if he runs his office like he ran his campaign, there should be few complaints I imagine.

but hell, he DOES talk purdy. lots of people were hurting for just that.

The problem is how does any of that qualify him to be in the oval office. He hasn't created any significant legislation. Realistically the only thing he has ever run were political campaigns. His entire political career at the local and national level was basically vote the party line, do nothing or what involvement he did have was to further his career.

He scares the holy hell out of me. We have no idea who he really is and what he cares about other than himself. Bush was no great president but at least we had a good idea who he was and what his motivations were. Same with Clinton.

I hope Obama's going to be OK. He might just be the greatest president we've ever had. We just have no way to know at this point. Obama is a complete wildcard. No one really knows who this guy is.

I can accept that you are wary of what he's all about. And all anyone can ask is for you to have faith for now that he's a good leader.

as to bush, people still re-elected him in 04 and did know how bad he was. so who knows?

good luck in 2009 guys. you're going to need it with attitudes like that.

edit: so wait, if the democrats pick the smart leader because they are dumb, does that mean republicans were going to pick the dumb leader because they are smart?

It's a matter of perspective who's the smart one and who isn't, of course.

Exactly....thank you.

Fuck....its not like one party is full of einsteins, and the other party is full of street bums. You can pull up 688 articles about this, that, and the other thing..... and I still wont give a fuck. Not because I don't want to, but because I don't come here for that. I just think its funny some fellas get so damn serious over the whole thing. Your opinion is your vote....majority wins....end of story. Cant we agree to disagree without talking like a highschool queer? Who's fucking stupid.? YOU! :vash:

Vash-

cueball1 11-06-2008 08:01 PM

I like that Mr. let's forget partisan politics, the old way of doing things, move forward and do the best for the country, Obama anounces his 1st appointment and it's a highly partisan, highly devisive ex-Clinton manager.

He's not even in office yet and already the campaign promises are out the door.

johndoe 11-06-2008 08:17 PM

mccain main demographic: uneducated rural white people.........

And let's not even get started on who is and isn't lying. Suddenly getting shot down while bombing civilian positions makes you a war hero and a national security expert...

The Republican party is very smart. They're able to convince people to vote for a party that doesn't have their best interests in mind.

It may just be where I live but every Republican I've ever met has either been politically ignorant or wealthy and self interested. The politically ignorant that I've known through school have all become either Democrats or independents when their political knowledge reached beyond whatever their parents and/or fox news was telling them.

johndoe 11-06-2008 08:18 PM

and let's not make assumptions about his cabinet, let alone his time in office based on one political appointment.

y8s 11-06-2008 08:34 PM

jesus fuck.

I thought maybe we could get past the bullshit. but no, I come in here to see an inoffensive picture and then a few posts later, the complaints and derisive comments start up again.

just a bunch of name calling, post-election crybabies and speculative criticism about his first staff pick.

bitching about it here changes nothing and makes you look petty.

hustler 11-06-2008 10:15 PM

lots of idiots in here who believe the extremist rhetoric. Please, fucking get real, or you'll get a delt-smash from the man of your woman's dreams.

hustler 11-07-2008 12:06 AM

socialism, disarmament, and religious crap aren't reasonable so do yourselves a favor and stop being fanatics. Illogical arguments only make you look like fools.

My year has been wild. I went from San Francisco, to seattle, to Chicago, to Austin...and now I'm in fucking beaumont, tx. Holy shit. Its funny how the educated population avoids this shit-hole.

Well gee, as long as we're throwing unfair generalizations around, Obama's main demographic: [jc]fair-trade gee-wizzers on ethnic peace bicycles[/jc]

Is that true? Of course not. ...and where'd you get this about McCain getting all of his experience from committing war crimes (the media? :jerkit: ) Finally, calling everyone holding an opposing viewpoint to your own "ignorant" is also unfair, and a copout.

Oh, and the cartoon is funny.

johndoe 11-07-2008 04:29 PM

hey now I didn't call them all ignorant. I said politically ignorant, which is not meant to insult their intelligence but rather emphasize their lack of knowledge about things political. And their are those I called self-interested, who may be very smart, unscrupulous, but smart.

kotomile 11-07-2008 08:41 PM

touche.

kotomile 11-08-2008 12:06 AM

also, I found this video funny, I don't know if you'd like it though:

Mach929 11-08-2008 12:58 AM

you know, i recall when i was in 5th or 6th grade(i can't remember exactly) and they ruled oj simpson innocent, some of my classmates rejoiced down the hallways screaming, i got the same creepy feeling when obama won and people were outside banging pots and pans

MX_Eva 11-09-2008 01:31 AM

I hear you on that one. I've avoided conversations with people about politics post election. I think most people who would have otherwise been in my face about it don't have any ammunition anymore.

John Doe I think it's very rediculous to claim republican supporters are politically ignorant or self serving. Well...I guess rather that you make self serving sound like it's evil or wrong. You even use unscrupulous to descripe "intelligent" or "informed" republicans. It's also very rediculous to try and claim that any politcal science or higher politcal learning only turns our democrats and near socialists.

I don't like heading in the direction of the government saying "We'll pay for your babies and all the money to send them to college....buuuut you can only have 3 of em"

macker 11-09-2008 03:27 AM

Have you ever, in your lifetime, seen a person elected to the office of President of the USA, and felt that they lived up to every statement or promise made during their campaign?

If you have, please, list that person! Then we can start to compare Obama, or any other past President, to that person.

I see people (on both sides), so insistent that one candidate or another is going to lead this country into X, Y and Z. Could you do me a favor? Could you look into that crystal ball of yours, and tell me what next week's lottery numbers will be? Can you do it in the Miss Cleo voice? I'll split the winnings with you, honest!

Sheeple want to believe they're helpless, at the mercy of the government and the wealthy and the corrupt. That there's nothing we can do about it, other than be morose and whine. There's a reason we're not still known as "British America"... it had nothing to do with superior firepower, or superior training, and very little to do with a bunch of drunks dumping tea off a boat.

Don't want to see this country continue its descent into the shitter? Instead of blindly reciting rhetoric, be it in support or opposition of a person or a cause, take a bit to learn the details of why people on both sides thinks it's a good or bad idea. One-sided conversations aren't useful, and alienating others by lashing out with wild claims and fanatical viewpoints precludes the opportunity.

Willful ignorance makes me sad. I'm not laughing with you, I'm laughing at you, to keep from crying.

The Democrats don't have our country's best interests in mind. That's what is important, not what is in my best interest, but what will make the country stronger.

Freedom of Choice Act FTL.

Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., the Democratic President-Elect, became a co-sponsor of the 2007 Senate version of the bill (S. 1173). Responding to a question regarding how he would preserve reproductive rights in a speech given to the Planned Parenthood Action Fund on July 17, 2007, he declared "The first thing I'd do, as president, is sign the Freedom of Choice Act. That's the first thing that I'd do."[4]

i thought republicans were in favor of "reduced government intervention"

Braineack 11-10-2008 03:43 PM

I'm pro-choice, not pro-death. And I'm for State's rights. I'm not your typical Republican, as I'm a registered Democrat.

I also don't like the idea of doctors losing their license if they refuse to do an abortion.

failure of notification of parents if a minor is getting an abortion.

failure of the 24 waiting period after consultation.

doctors being sued if the abortion they didnt want to do in the first place goes wrong.
