LoL.. in GA if you swap a V8 into a car that was not available with one, you are emissions exempt. Probably one of the few good times i'm glad rednecks have some pull in the south.

These "refs" you people speak of sound lie a bunch of fartknockers....like people you want to punch in the face just because.

You didn't mean to respond to me, did you? I couldn't care less about CARB cert for Cali (aside from responding in this thread).

What the heck are you talking about? Of course I meant to respond to you. This whole thread is about California emissions approval of an LS1-swapped Miata, isn't it?

If CARB legal headers were that easy/available, don't you think FM/V8R would pick up a pair for their swaps to open themselves up to the Cali market?

Fmowry, I think the cost estimates you've been getting are probably close to the mark. One thing you might want to do is contact Marty at Monster Miata. I've been out to his place in San Marcos, and while for him the V8 Miata thing is clearly a sideline (he builds custom plumbing fixtures, mostly) he has several cars on the road in CA using modern Ford 5 liter drivetrains.

I don't understand how your response even related to my only post (at the time) in this thread. You mentioned cost estimates I received. I haven't mentioned anything about cost. Are you mixing me up with the OP? I live in MD and am almost done my LSX conversion using the non-CARB Sanderson shorties.

Yes I am. :loser:

Sorry, both of your usernames begin with a lower-case "f". That's about all I saw.

frostyllama, interpret my last couple of replies to fmowry as being addressed to you.

The FD RX7 specifically typically holds it resale a LOT higher than your average good condition miata likely because they're much fewer available. Don't expect to get 25-30k from a swapped miata and it might be much more a niche market than the RX7 swapped cars is, but I can't speak from experience. My only concern with that is you can drop your car off at FM and they'll build you a turn-key product if you've got the cash, and IIRC its not that expensive.

Anyway, Good luck in your venture and I hope all goes well.

yeah, that thought was going on in the back of my mind. the reason i chose the miata in the first place was because i read so much about it and i just recently bought one with the initial idea of turboing up. i will research more, make some phone calls, and see if its worthwhile.

fmowry- its funny you brought up a backyard kid with a welder, because that is exactly what i would be. i'm still in college and i've got my whole life ahead of me so i'm not exactly worried if things don't pan out with this plan lol. just thought i would spin the idea.

(edit, sounded a wee bit gay) good input, and we will see what happens.

side note- i find it funny that "miata" is marked as a misspelling on a miata website.
