Sorry to come out of nowhere, but could someone hook me up with one as well?

latena 12-12-2012 07:01 PM

I can do an autocheck for you, post the vin or PM it.

Braineack 12-12-2012 07:18 PM

will it show pretty much the same stuff as the carfax? thanks for it BTW.

latena 12-12-2012 07:23 PM

It is my understanding that they are the same and use the same database.

Braineack 12-12-2012 07:55 PM

well if someone still has access to carfax reports, let me know. im still curious to compare.

18psi 12-12-2012 07:57 PM

use the free autocheck player

RussellT94 12-12-2012 08:03 PM

I was considering purchasing a vehicle on eBay. The eBay provided auto check was clean, 2 wrecks on the car fax. I've never had another one not match, maybe auto check missed the old accidents due to the vehicle being a little older (1998).

Gryff 12-12-2012 08:54 PM

I wouldnt consider 98 to be old...

Yeah Autocheck seems to be hit or miss.. Showed a clean n clear title for my WRX, but once I walked into the DMV to transfer the title they said it was salvage.

chpmnsws6 12-12-2012 09:12 PM

Sinner.

Braineack 12-12-2012 09:21 PM

Yeah car has a weird history and the guy seller it is a being a little odd about the history, so I want to make sure it all checks out. it's a 2009 with only 39K but he's apparently the third owner, where someone owned it for only a few before him and put 10Kmiles on it. Where the current owner has only put about that much on it in the last year of owning it.

Otherwise it looks pretty good in pics and I plan to see/but it on saturday if it checks out.

latena 12-12-2012 10:09 PM

I still think he is the second owner and that he moved. That would explain the excessive mileage, but would be interested to see a carfax on it.

looks pretty good on the outside, he said he was going to clean/detail before i see it saturday.

we'll see. Pretty sure I can get him to a price I'll be happy with.

18psi 12-12-2012 10:52 PM

white is right

Pen2_the_penguin 12-13-2012 03:04 AM

Autocheck put a little flag on my miata because the original owner missed a payment back in 1995... I am the second owner, and I know for a fact nothing was wrong with my car.

dealer prep/detail = swirled to hell paint with free scratches.

bring it to y8s' detailing and get it done legit.

Braineack 12-13-2012 09:30 AM

not a dealer.

Bargaining chip? I'm sure the car already has messed up paint, subarus are painted with crayola.

If that's racist, then the vanity plate "wht pwr" i was thinking about is???

Zabac 12-13-2012 10:49 AM

Brain, PM the VIN
In my experience, Autocheck is better, and I run 20-40 carfax reports a month.

it's not avaiable. :(

what's also annoying is that my wife doesnt want me to get a "dont tread on me license plate" because it costs an extra $10 annualy and that I understand the irony in it.

she is very welcome to the idea of putting those stick figures you see on mini vans in sexual positions. her idea, not mine.

Have you ever made a decision in your relationship? Maybe I should get you a pair for pants for christmas.

Then you damn well better to be able to pick whatever license plate you want.

Braineack 12-14-2012 12:38 PM

She does a have point on the plate. paying the govt an extra $10 a year for a plate that stands for anti statism is somewhat ironic. She suggested a sticker instead. then went with the sexing stick figured.

She's good. She has you convinced that YOU want a station wagon.

Braineack 12-14-2012 02:08 PM

I grew up on station wagons. she thinks it's retarded.

rleete 12-14-2012 02:14 PM

She has an easy target.

Braineack 12-14-2012 02:42 PM

small car, fast as hell, hatchback for carrying a big load, awd. i dont see the problem.

rleete 12-14-2012 04:49 PM

My reply was to chpmnsws6, not you. You're the easy target.

Wagons are retarded. Subies are ugly to begin with, but a wagon is doubly so.

Braineack 12-15-2012 05:32 PM

Despite your opinion I'm going to the proud new owner of this wrx!

So. I guess you don't care about ringlands?

Braineack 12-15-2012 07:46 PM

nope. I dont care about ringlands in my stock DD that might see 45mph on a good traffic day.

Does the car have a factory warranty? I do suggest you look it up-- ringlands problem happens with all black everything. i mean all stock everything.

Braineack 12-15-2012 09:09 PM

Up to 60k

18psi 12-15-2012 09:24 PM

fae-tuning and stupidity shatters ringlands.

proper tuning and a short but effective mod list produces 400whp in a daily that looks stock

My tunes had absolutely nothing to do with my subie motor death.

And what would this ez 400wheel hp list be?

18psi 12-15-2012 10:00 PM

20g-30r sized turbo of choice
spearco top mount
IDs
wally or dw
free flowing exhaust
Possibly header/ewg if you're into that stuff
3port

Basically
Well tuned and on e85 of course.

See the dyno plot I posted in other thread from 09 STi I tuned today

chpmnsws6 12-15-2012 10:33 PM

Or leave it stock and enjoy a nice reliable car. Having a modded DD is annoying.

Yeah, like anyone ever listens to me anyway. I'm more like background noise.

Or have a modded and extremely fun while completely reliable DD.

Yes. But its very rare, you only hear alot about it because everyone that it happens to complains about it. Though, IMO a good "stage 1" tune is safer than stock because of the stupid CL/OL delay.

And I wont do a turbo swap, the VF52 is a pretty sweet daily driver turbo that can hit 300whp.

I heard you, just chose to ignore. Not going to be your car, so your opinion means little.

Notice how I didn't start a thread: "I have a budget to buy a car, I dunno what to get, please all you gays a mt.net tell me what to buy"

I had been debating the WRX, MS3, V70r, and A4/S4 wagon for a while now. The WRX won out and now I get to own one this week. It's in pretty good shape, the color I wanted, only 40K miles, and the guy kept it relatively in good shape. The body is in good shape, a few scratches here and there, a bunch on the door handle cups I think I can buff out, but other than that theres no rust, it's stock and will be a fun versatile DD. I dont have to worry much about snow anymore, I can finally pass minivans on the highway, and I wont have to borrow my in-laws minivan as much when I need to transport small objects. I might be able to throw away my spool of twine now...I'm tired of having to tie my trunk-lid shut when objects are too large to fit in any of my other cars.

chpmnsws6 12-16-2012 11:53 AM

Wagon > Miata.

I'd trade my Miata for a decent wagon in a heartbeat.

Braineack 12-16-2012 12:44 PM

Well I'm keeping the miata of course

Faeflora 12-16-2012 12:56 PM

How much did you pay for it?

Note that a "stage 2" WRX with downpipe and exhaust and tune is faster than your miata. I was neck and neck with stage 2 WRXs back when I was at 10ish psi, gt3071 and 255hp on the York dyno.

Faeflora 12-16-2012 01:02 PM

That is $1000 of mods. Add a wideband and boost gauge and you are at $1250. Add a $100 tactrix and you can tune it yourself.

The way you do fuel with the "open source" tuning is a little unintuitive but it works. No megasquirt but the knock detection is legit, timing table and trims are ez, and logging is fucking awesome. Runs at something like 40hz yay.

Braineack 12-16-2012 01:04 PM

I'm not modding it. And probably slower than miata at a roll
