Default Daily Drivers

As much as I love my failmobile I think I need to have something more spacious and reliable for daily use. I've been giving this some thought lately and I want so see what the gay community has to say about daily drivers.

I don't want exuberant luxury. I just want a decent car that I can drive and not come out of it looking like I just ran a marathon. Also a car that can take more than 2 people around with some comfort.

What do you guys recommend?

I want an XJ for a daily. Lots of torque, super simple to work on, and very reliable. I'd like to thank my GF for letting me borrow her's.

You read my mind. I'm really interested in the Prelude but I would like a sedan. I was think an A6/A4, but all I hear is horror stories about them. I just wanted to see what input you guys had before I ended up getting a Civic, Accord etc. One thing that Im concern about Hondas is the ******* theft rate.

Remember Im on college budget

under 5k you're looking at an older accord, civic, corolla, nissan altima, camry, protege, etc.

All those cars make good daily's with a decent amount of room for 4.

obviously the altima, camry, and accord will be a bit roomier and softer/nicer.

About 2 years ago my wife had an 01 corolla. Nothing special, but it was DEAD reliable, and one of the most simple cars EVER to work on. I really liked it a whole lot.

Now we have an 05 civic hybrid and I hate it with a passion. I'd gladly return it if I could, get my money back, and get her the corolla back.

just sold my mazdaspeed 3 yesterday, looking to get something not too gay or shitty for around 6-7k. I was actually looking for that gen prelude, but they are hard to find around here. Gonna try to get with a guy who can buy auction cars and try to get a sweet deal that way but we'll see. Looking into the 04-05 ish mazda3 or mazda6.. those are prob my top choices right now.

lol is it a pos?

I just sold an 01 GXE for the in laws. Drove it for a few weeks. It was very comfy (compared to corolla), soft, torquey, and an all around decent cheap daily IMO

Yes, I just saw a 1.8t on AT for ~4k. Too good to be reliable.

1.8t audi and reliable shouldn't ever be put into the same sentence lol

And a 2000 prelude will NEVER fit 3-4 people comfortably.
Its pretty much a 2 seater

I drove my 2000 gxe to work today. I hate it. but its paid off, never needs repair, and gets okay gas mileage, cheap property taxes and insurance.

The seats fell like I'm sitting on a brick wall my back always hurts after driving it, the suspension is weaksauce, it plows like dick, it sucks in the snow and i get stuck every year, it has no power, the stereo sounds like butt, there's just nothing exciting about it.

At least get a 2002 when they went to the new body. the 2000-01 was just a dressed up 98-99, which was just a dressed up 90-97. except the new ECU made it impossible to boost the motor or do anything cool.

with that said I ran a 15.7 in teh 1/4 mile with it. holla!
