Sixshoote- lol I got it, NO Audi. Nice sig btw.

So far Im really liking the SC300/400. If I do end up getting one I wont touch it. The "friendly boost" comment was just to arouse all you kids. I'm staying away from Honda. I don't to be looking over my shoulder all the time.

I'll take a look at the one I linked probably this weekend. I want to get a feeling for the car and see if it is something I want. Then I'll probably tried the SC400 and compare then. If I don't like any then I'll continue serching.

My parents have an Altima. I no want Altima.

Everyone and their mother is selling Altimas down here. Unless you take $500 for it I'm not gonna make the trip up there and drive it back.

I picked up a 97 ford explorer last year, 5.0 with awd. It drinks gas like a mother ****** and some times the air ride just decides it does not want to work. Other then that it is comfy and I can load it full of bitches of whatever size or shape I choose in comfort.

I did not love this car until I owned it for 2+ years. Bought it dirt cheap with 130k, and now its up to 170k with no problems. Only things that have failed is the stock radiator, clutch slave and master cycls, and axle cv joints.

I see a lot of VW hatin' in this thread. They do have some common issues (stupid little wiring issues, usually) but every car has its faults. Everyone in my family drives a VW TDI... total combined mileage between 4 cars is 930,000. We have (2) 96 passats, a 2000 jetta, and 98 beetle. All 4 cars have their original motors and transmissions. The jetta was bought brand new, both passats were purchased from their original owners, the beetle has had a few owners. As far as we know, not a single major mechanical failure has occurred, just replacements of standard wear parts like regular timing belt changes (HAVE to do those on time) and 2 clutches. The OEM clutch went in the jetta at 250k, in one of the passats at 310k. The other passat and the beetle are still under 200k and thus on their original clutches.

My car is the lower mileage 96 passat. It’s not the most exciiting car to drive, but it gets me around and is quite comfortable. I really prefer the MK4 cars, eventually I'll probably replace it with a MK4 TDI Golf. Call it personal preference if you will, but I think nearly a million essentially trouble-free miles could be considered empirical evidence of reliability . The 40+ MPG is nice too... so is having peak torque at just 1900rpm.

PS, don't get one that is too new, the Pumpe-duse TDI and newer models are less reliable (2004+ IIRC).

Test drive one of these..... As a Performance vehicle they are full of fail, but they get out of their own way very well, and interior quality is very good. reliable as well, if maintained

I had a 01 Galant. They are cheaper than all other jap. sedans, and mine was stupid reliable. Dull as a brick, though. Even the V6 one.... but cheap, comfortable and not an accord/camry. Just don't get a black one because black mitsubishi paint has the aids.

I hated it so I drove it into a guard rail

VOLVO 850... CAN BE TURBO or na.... very comfortable, slightly boring, great commuter
higher mileage cars will have issues, look over lots before buying 1000-2600$$ finds good cars.

my wife has a 98 volvo s70. t-5 turbo with manual trans.,... its ****, super quiet, super comfortable, plenty of power 26 mpg . 2000-4000$ gets ya a good car.

I have a 06 'jetta diesel special edition' Nice interior, but it has the fail DSG. The DSG services are rediculous.... but other than that rather reliable, but then, it only has 54k miles on it. I bought the car because a good mechanic friend of mine was all about them, he and his parents made biodiesel outta WVO, and had good luck. But, given the limited miles I put on the car its not worth the price premium that everything VW has attached to it, and it really only gets 38-40 on my commutes.

Any thing else VAG makes is too complicated for its own good. Great cars for 100k miles. Since he bought the TDI, he does a lotta VW/audi work and I've seen some crazy **** fail on those cars... lemme tell ya, you don't want to have to pay for a failed auxillary water pump on one of the v6 turbo motors, it lives under the intake manifold, and all of the cars need one at some point.

My other car is a 06 focus ST, and its actually a fun little car, very much on the pos interior department, but if the miata is borked its a good HS autocross car, lol.
